Well, my 7th time at Primavera and I can only repeat myself, it’s an excellent, well-organised festival and no other line-up comes close to the richness, thoughtfulness and variety of Primavera. Some random thoughts and memories: The unexpected thing was kinda fun, even though I didn’t care for any of the acts playing, I kinda got stuck in the moment and went for Arcade Fire (missing out on Miguel), I guess they lost me a few years ago, but the atmosphere and the excitement was still great to experience. We got ourselves a backstage token while queuing for Jarvis, but only found the time to visit the Backstage at the last hour for Operators. Fun idea, but I guess if I hadn’t come across a token and some band I really would love to see would’ve played, I’d see things differently. Then again, it’s just a little bonus to an already stacked line-up. Only been to Mordor once for Skepta, and yeah it’s a different world over there, feels like three times as many people as on all the other stages combined. Which on the upside means the old area of Primavera/RayBan/Pitchfork/adidas is such a thrill, comfortable and easy to navigate. I really think part of it is a change in the mindset of people, fame beats taste nowadays, doesn’t matter who’s playing as long as it’s on one of the big stages. I missed the Unplugged-stage, Mango House was not a good substitute (but I guess Backstage was the real one). The closing acts (Pinegrove, Priests, Mannequin Pussy) at Pitchfork were all great, a great way to end the day. No more overlap between Pitchfork and adidas was a good thing, I guess. Even though some part of my brain was like “they took an additional option away from me”. Musically there were just so many highlights, King Gizzard might’ve been the best show I saw, great setlist and energy, Skinny Puppy was something to see, Pinegrove and Teenage Fanclub had the biggest singalong moments I witnessed, the Make-Up and the unbelievable Ian Svenonius (always walking around and being happy to talk with some fans), Sleaford Mods felt kinda like a breakout-show, the fuck-up with sound turned into an electric atmosphere which somehow turned positive and became a larger-than-life feeling. Not to mention my other highlights, Hamilton Leithauser, Slim Cessna, Arab Strap, Death Grips, Sleep and lots of other sets that were, well, good. So, thank you again, for all of that.

@Risingson Cool. Thanks for the reply. I wonder what the time scale is on it. Feels like it is getting late in the day. The main stage headliners all seem fairly downbeat acts (apart from maybe Arcade Fire) so I wondered if they might add someone to up the pace a bit too.

Last year the first announcement (January 21st) included Radiohead, and the tickets were sold out in 9 days since then. PS 17 probably won't sell out this quickly following the current announcement, it's very early to tell. You should look into getting a decent accommodation ASAP, as it's getting expensive.

well, thanks for the lcd-show at barts, one of the happiest audiences i've ever seen. and the fancy toilets, and the comfort, and the garbage-men. and thanks for the shows closing the adidas. white reaper, sheer mag and islam chipsy were all truly great, please keep that schedule. too many highlights: ty segall and mannie making me love the muggers, even though i didn't care about the album, richard dawson, parquet courts, beak>, venom, vince staples, john carpenter, drive like jehu… still think titus andronicus should have gotten a better slot, but the show was still great. the only bad thing was the sound where i was standing at brian wilson, way too quiet. but the audience reacted really well and stopped talking (except when they were singing, which meant you couldn't hear the band anymore, but who could blame them). oh, and didn't knew that black devil music club is just a meta thing and not really an old forgotten electro auteur, now i know! nice beach club anyway. saw the great aliment on the new unplugged stage, and yeah, the change did make sense. til next year.

well, to say something: as always, primavera was fantastic. a few things didn't work out for me. at some acts the sound at the pitchfork stage was really terrible, i heard more of the new pornographers than of tobias jesso jr. can't remember having that problem in the past years (and i was there for mount eerie at atp a few years ago), so it might just be that i was standing in the wrong place. and i do think that on thursday and friday after midnight there should have been more diversive guitar-acts. the doom/metal-thing was great in its on way, but too much of the same… anyway, primavera is doing such a good job when it comes to music. so thank you again! best performances i saw in no particular order: spiritualized - wasn't planning on seeing them again, but man, am i thankfull that i went to the show. they played lots of stuff from amazing grace, kinda odd choice, but the magic did happen. hookworms - wow! while thee oh sees (at the apollo at least) was a bit of a bro-rock-thing, this was really out there. more noise than on the record. run the jewels - we are the champions! electric wizard - massive disappears - i thought the early slot would be a waste for them, but somehow it worked. the sun, the noise, the sweat, the drums. the replacements - should have been longer, but still, this show was kind of a once in a lifetime deal. so, thanks for that! single mothers @ unplugged - some wild fun, perfect. babes in toyland, julie ruin, perfume genius, dfa79, pallbearer, soft moon, health, sunn o))), mikal cronin (the few songs i saw), fucked up and sleaford mods were great too.
