Pues estaba yo esta mañana escuchando un disco-recopilatorio de los originales versionados por mis queridos Cobras que encontré por uno de esos blogs del mundo, y me sorprende que tres de sus mejores temazos vengan signados por The 5 Royales (enorme el saxo que le endiñan a los temas), así que he estado buscando alguna compilación del susodicho quintento, y el resultado es:

Por otro lado, recomendar uno que puso 30" en su momento y pude repasar la semana pasada: Keletigui et ses Tambourinis, con curiosa historia que se explicó por encima en el Buscant Jeff Mangum de ayer.
Y mientras escribo esto, mixtape al zurrón. Esto del intenné es a veces perversión máxima.

Strut's Afrostrut label has slowly been uncovering a mine of Afro funk gold from the dusty vaults of Lagos, Nigeria. Some of the music has never been heard outside of Africa, some has never been heard at all, recorded but never released. Such is the case with Peter King's lost album, Shango. The album is a lost classic with hard Afro-funk dancefloor bombs sitting alongside more reflective, downtempo ghetto psychedelia. The lyrics are hard-hitting, borrowing the 'no sell out' messages of black power USA and the musicianship on the album is incredible - great players all locked into layers of rough Afro percussion. Simply an essential album for any Afrobeat or funk fan! Remastered. 2002.

I had brought 10.000 full-color "Records Wanted!" posters, plugged newspaper adverts and radio clips wherever I went, and also thanx to my networks of record agents in Nigeria as well as Ghana, the pull has been unbelievable. I already had to ship hundreds of records back to the states, found a load of stuff that was previously unknown to me, had a lot of really amazing experiences and took some fun pictures._

Otro impresionante compilatorio de torpedos northern soul rompe pistas, quema suelas y creadores de algarabia general en todo allnighter que se precie de ello. No soy responsable si despues de oír esto alguno se decide a dejar de ser un indie, quitarse las barbas y ver la luz mod, que conste. Todo y eso, los muchachos de Goldmine Records sacaban (creo que ya no, pero no estoy seguro de ello) unos compilatorios que valen su peso no en oro, sino en titanio, kryptonita, diamantes o lo que sea. Y, para los viciosos de los datos, una buena lista de nombres a buscar en internet. Y para los coleccionistas de estribillos, aqui tienen unos cuantos para ir aumentando la colección.
