Nuevo álbum de Aaron Neville, producido por Kiz y Don Was.
Aaron Neville's latest record, My True Story, comes out on January 22. Keith co-produced the album with Don Was, and also provided guitar on some of the tracks.
Neville will be showcasing songs from My True Story with a slew of appearances on radio and television this month and next. Be sure to catch Aaron on:

Then in March, PBS will air the special Aaron Neville: Doo Wop: My True Story — a concert filmed this past November at New York's Brooklyn Bowl, with such special guests as Paul Simon, Joan Osborne, Eugene Pitt of the Jive Five (who co-wrote the album's title song), and Dickie Harmon from the Del-Vikings. Mali’s ngoni ace returns. After his celebrated debut album ‘Segu Blue’ and the Grammy nominated follow up ‘I speak fula’, hundreds of concerts all over the globe, performing as headliner in the AfroCubism project Bassekou Kouyate is back with his new album. Just a few months ago, he appeared on stage together with Sir Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Damon Albarn and many others at the latest Africa Express events.
Jama ko is the title of his new offering. It means ‘big gathering of people’. Any important event in Mali be it birth, marriage or death has been accompagnied by the music of the griots and Bassekou and his family are at the heart of this tradition. Jama ko is a call for unity, peace and tolerance in a time of crisis. “Jama ko, c’est pour tout le monde”, says Bassekou Kouyate, griot and celebrated ngoni player, explaining the title of his third album, “There are over 90% Muslims in Mali, but our form of Islam here has nothing to do with a radical form of Sharia: that is not our culture. We have been singing praise songs for the Prophet for hundreds of years. If the Islamists stop people music making they will rip the heart out of Mali.” No matter who you are, let us come together and enjoy life, and celebrate the true spirit of Mali.

Yo venía a otra cosa. En el último Fransansisco, además de escuchar a Judee Sill, puse unos tema de Monophonics, una banda de la Bahia que hace una especie de psych soul, bastante rockero, a ratos con ramalazos Rare Earth, casi siempre bastante funkys y sin abusar del revival, sin derivar que diría alrom pero con versión del "Bang Bang" de Sonny Bono incluída.
De lo mejorcito que he escuchado de 2012 si nos ceñimos al género en sentido amplio. Autoproducción de nivel Daptone y banda en clara ascendencia. Candidatos claros al PS2014.

Para la gente de Madrid, todos los primeros sábados de mes estarán pinchando reggae, ska, rocksteady…en un garito de la calle Pez (número 40) que se llama Yllana. Todo con 45s y muy buen ambiente. Birras y copas baratas y buenas. Se agradecen estas propuestas en el centro de Madrid.

Joder que parra! lo siento pulpo, no sé porque se me han traspapelado vuestros nombres. Respecto al link, lo probé ayer en casa y no funcionaba, pero a lo mejor fue porque ya me estaba bajando otro disco a la vez. Lo volveré a intentar.
Por cierto, para no ensuciar más el hilo aprovecho este mensaje para recordaros a los madrileños que mañana estará EBO TAYLOR en el Tempo. No entiendo como tocando en un garito tan pequeño y a 10 € la entrada, no se han agotado las entradas hace tiempo. Aunque tampoco han hecho mucha promoción que digamos, yo creo que he hecho más promoción del concierto que ellos mismos.

Bueno que estuve de vacas con la familia por Perú y de paso me hice un digging importante por las tiendas de discos (esta la cosa muy caliente por allí, he flipado bastante).
Un amigo me hablo muy bien de esta banda y la verdad que lo he escuchado y aunque a mi me suenan un poco a homenaje stereo a muchos otros grupos de chicha psicodelica tipo Los Mirlos y Juaneco los chicos tienen lo suyo. Se llaman Chapillacs y son de Arequipa, cosa buena porque las bandas de Lima se han dedicado a hacer tributos absurdos a todo el legado de antaño.
MassTropicas les ha editado algunos 7" por los states y el jodido mad professor les ha hecho unos remixes dub que son la crema, para quien quiera moverlo hardcore esto es lo suyo.

Está noche en el Tempo club de Madrid, la banda Madrí Grass nos acerca un poco al carnaval de New Orleans haciendo un respado de los temas clásicos de la ciudad. Yo ya estuve el año pasado y creo que este voy a repetir.

Muy bien lo de Madrí Grass ayer, cayeron casi todos los temazos típicos de New Orleans y que muchos hemos conocido gracias a Tremme. Nos hicieron pasar un muy buen rato a todos. Decir también que probamos el cockteil Sazerac a base de bourbon, absenta, bitter, azucar y limón, un trago delicioso!
Ebo Taylor el miércoles pasado se salío también. Acompañado por 7 músicos que casi no cabían en el pequeño escenario del Tempo se centraron en el último disco, sin dejar de tocar los viejos clásicos como Heaven y Love & Death. Dijero que volverían en verano a España.

Si no fuera porque estoy muy vago desde hace tiempo y que, además, he llegado al convencimiento que tratar de describir la música es algo que me supera, les diría que el bolo de ayer tarde / noche de Big Daddy Wilson en Jamboree fue de esos que hace vibrar las células a base de voz, sentimiento, el eterno feeling sureño, blues que sale de las entrañas y se expande por tu piel, soul imperial y desgarradoramente tranquilo y una guitarra acústica que surgía desde las mismas profundidades del alma negra de USA, aunque fuera tocada (magistralmente) por un italiano. Este seguro que vuelve, porque vio que toda una sala se le puso, literalmente, a sus pies. Y, encima, con el sonido más perfecto que he oído en un bolo en años.

Siempre, salvo muy contadas ocasiones. Este sabado volvemos a ver la primera cosilla que se ha sacado Oscar Dalmau: jazz con Hammond B3 rollo Blue Note. Luego a ver a Ella & The Roosters y, si el cuerpo aguanta, a ver al amigo Ragna pinchando rumbas en Rumbalia.
Por cierto, hoy es el aniversario del asesinato de Malcolm X y del nacimiento de la ENORME Nina Simone.
