Facing federal hacking charges
-
I got raided last month, they took all my gear, and now I am looking at charges for accessing systems without authorisation. I am freaking out because my public defender seems clueless about how any of this tech stuff actually works. Do I need a specialist and what should I even ask them?

The problem with a regular attorney is they will not know how to challenge digital forensics or question whether the IP logs the feds are relying on could have been spoofed. You can find information on a cybersecurity criminal defense lawyer here https://arkadybukhlawfirm.com/practice-areas/criminal-defense-cyber-crime/ . Do not try to explain your side to the agents yourself, anything you say gets twisted, and do not attempt to wipe any remaining devices because that is obstruction of justice and makes everything ten times worse.

Make a list of every device and account you own before your lawyer asks for it, including old phones in drawers and cloud logins you forgot about. The feds already have a list, and your lawyer cannot defend what they do not know about until it is too late.
