_The Tragic Treasury: Songs from A Series of Unfortunate Events is the second release by the Stephin Merritt band The Gothic Archies. The album is a compilation of songs that were originally released with thirteen audiobooks for A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (one song was written for and would appear at the end of each respective audiobook). Two bonus songs also appear on the album: "Walking My Gargoyle" is the original song from book nine, The Carnivorous Carnival, while "We Are the Gothic Archies" is the band's anthem.
The music, like the writing in the books themselves, is morose for comic effect. Some of the songs' lyrics have something to do with the story itself and are often implicitly written in the voice of one of the corresponding book's characters; for example, "When You Play the Violin" is apparently in the voice of one of the book's five orphans while "Dreary Dreary" appears to be an ode to Beatrice, Lemony Snicket's ill-fated love interest. Others' connections seem to be in name only; for example, "Shipwrecked", The End's song, is about a man who decapitates his ship's crew in an attempt to be shipwrecked on an island with his true love, only to discover that there is no island anywhere nearby. At the end of the final track ("We Are the Gothic Archies") is a section of reversed speech. Playing the song backwards reveals that this section is simply the last verse of the song with its lines in reverse order.
Though a few songs on the album include traditional acoustic instruments such as the ukulele, the majority of the songs on the album prominently feature electronic and synthesized instruments, many of which being trademark sounds of Merritt's.

la verdad es que son unos hijosdeputa
pero de todas formas, apaguen las alarmas, hay varias buenas localidades no disponibles, que supongo que se reservan para su venta a partir del 2 de mayo, haya calma
además parece que la venta tampoco va muy veloz que se diga
todo esto lo podeis ver en ticktackticket si iniciais una compra de entradas, aunque luego lo canceleis -
además…qué lunático con abono para summercase querrá ver al Merrit una o dos semanas despues (ni idea de las fechas..)? Pues alguno habrá amigo Ramiro pero mantengamos la fe y que nuestras elucubraciones nos despojen de temblores varios.

Salvo que alguien nos corrija, no hemos visto por ningún lado que toque 'You and me and the moon'. Siendo así, vamos a pensarnos muy mucho si vamos o no.

Joder, si no vais al concierto de esta gente porque no te toca ésta u otra canción háztelo mirar. ¿Teniendo un repertorio de más de 150 temas viene de una? Escomo ir a ver a Dylan y exigirle que toque, qué sé yo, "As I went out one morning".

Suena exagerado, pero es que tenemos una conexión histórico - emocional - personal con ese tema. Y que salga el tipo y no la toque nos puede predisponer ala agresividad mal encauzada.
Además, en nuestra muy particular opinión, el tema en cuestión supone la cima creativa de este tipo, al que hemos visto en directo y nos parece -tanto en vivo como en disco- pelín sobrevalorado.
Lo de Dylan no es el mejor ejemplo que podía usted poner, aunque creemos haberle entendido.

las veces lo he visto (Casino de l'Aliança 2004 y como Future Bible Heroes en el PS) siempre ha ido en "acústico". Creo que es cosa de hace años.
