llevo todo el fin de semana dándole a saco al disco, al principio me quedé con esa continuidad con Arcade Dynamics y sobre todo con Real Estate pero después de varias escuchas le veo matices más… ¿perversos?, sobre todo en algunas canciones. Lo que en el grupo madre es escapismo playero aquí lo relaciono con la lectura que hace Simon Reynolds, the wire y tal de la hipnagogia, más "política". Desde los arpegios de sintes lopatineros (que por cierto, creo que también estaba en algún tema de RE, pero pasa más desapercibido que aquí) hasta cosas como ese "making love to my alien wife"

The History of Apple Pie – Out of View (2013)

Despite having one of the most ridiculous band names this side of Chumbawumba, The History of Apple Pie became one of the most-hyped buzzbands of 2012, with their astoundingly poppy style of noisy shoegaze and post-rock. There’s an ethereal nature to their sound, recalling the sugary charm of Deerhoof, but there’s a grounded levity too, a seriousness that delivers a blunt edge to the ballooning pop hooks and chirrups of fuzz that hits home with a thwack.
Their debut record, Out of View, opens up with disjointed dial-up Internet scrapes in the fan- familiar ‘Tug’, before flourishing into a bouquet of expansive walls of Kitchens Of Distinction noise and sublime, chilled vocals from singer Stephanie Min. Bawling guitar melodies, rollercoastering up and down, solo endlessly beneath chugging bass and drums that just won’t quit, getting the album off to a fantastic start. ‘See You’ explodes into your ears like the final chorus of an ’80s hair metal anthem. It’s strongly melodic, and the tunes they weave together and the dripping lo-fi manic emotion of Yuck make for a very accessible cut. The band have in the past been compared to My Bloody Valentine and Dinosaur Jr. , but these comparisons are largely misguided – THOAP lack that “doomsday” feeling, and the ’80s grit – you’re more likely to find delirious glee and songs that make you want to simultaneously laugh and cry.

creo que la evolución es natural si, realmente no se aleja mucho de su sonido, aunque hay un claro giro ochentero no creo que se deba exclusivamente a Lopatin, creo que se aprecia una clara influencia de ariel pink, pero sin menospreciar en absoluto el disco. de hecho con unas pocas escuchas me parece cojonudo y como dice manel el trabajo compositivo tiene grandes cumbres.

Si bien es cierto que en Arcade Dynamics se apreciaban indicios de por dónde podían ir los tiros, cuando servidor habló de claras diferencias respecto al primer Ducktails se refería no tanto a la orientación eminentemente pop de este nuevo álbum como al aspecto en la producción. El turbio tamiz de las canciones de Mondanile siempre me evocó legañas, amaneceres resacosos, cereales con leche fresca resbalando por la barbilla, mañanas brumosas de primavera en una playa llena de palmeras cuando no hay ni un alma. Ahora el día ha avanzado, las playas se han petado de gente, las palmeras han sido sustituidas por farolas, e incluso se hace de noche (esto último se intuye en los temas más ochenteros a los que alude zack). Antes te lo hacías a primera hora de la mañana tirado en la hamaca, saliva reseca en barba de tres días, bermudas y una camisa semidesabrochada llena de lamparones, ahora te lo imaginas conduciendo un coche con el crepúsculo cayendo, afeitadito y arregladito, olor a colonia, rumbo a la discoteca de moda con los neones ya empezando a reflejarle en las gafas de sol.

Vamos, toda esta parida para decíos que el salto a mí si me ha parecido bastante grande, quizás pelín forzado.

No es una filtración pero si un disco nuevo. Muy recomendable y aviso es muy pegadizo dentro de lo que el lo-fi permite. Sobretodo no empezar la primera escucha por el principio, poner de la 3a adelante y luego el disco entero o le veréis menos gracia de la que tiene.
