wild nothing / empty estate ep (captured tracks, 2013)

@npwrvsm5:
“This is a record that happened very fast for me. We had just gotten back from a particularly long European tour last November, our first supporting Nocturne, and I was feeling a lot of things. I found myself struggling with what it meant to be a musician, with what music in general meant to me and what part I could possibly play in it. Playing the same songs every night for months left me bored with myself. But when I got home, for the first time in awhile it suddenly seemed that the pressure was off. We didn’t have any tours planned for several months and I started to remember again why I love music in the first place. I listened to Brian Eno and David Bowie for weeks on end and felt like I was hearing them for the first time. I took a trip to Miami with my girlfriend. I visited my family. I felt free to try things musically that I would have stifled before. The songs on this EP were recorded over a 10 day period and are a reflection of this time. Of all the frustrations and successes and moments of peace in between.” -Jack

Thurston Moore & Loren Connors - The Only Way to Go Is Straight Through [Northern-Spy]

@2mt2sjcj:Thurston and Loren fearlessly dive into a hot, dark pool and enter a world of surging sound and faint lights. The material on The Only Way To Go Is Straight Through was compiled from two live recordings. Side A was captured at The Stone in Manhattan, where Moore and Connors performed on July 14, 2012 for the second annual Spy Music Festival. The pair met up again on October 17, 2012 to headline Northern Spy’s CMJ showcase at Public Assembly in Brooklyn, and that mesmerizing set became Side B of this record.
While this was not the first time that Thurston Moore and Loren Connors have performed together, a vinyl pressing of their improvised collaborations is unprecedented. A mere three thousand copies of this extraordinary LP will be available worldwide ONLY on Record Store Day (April 20, 2013)

Queens - End Times

_Debut Album from New York's Scott Mou.Sounding more like an album Kranky would release than what you might expect to hear on Dial, will appeal to fans of Jandek, Durutti Column, Panda Bear…
Scott Mou, known as one half of the duo Jane – the folk techno drone duo he had with Panda Bear – as well as part of Manhattan's famous record store Other Music, debuts with his solo project Queens._
http://www56.zippyshare.com/v/39328491/file.html ```–-------------------------------- **Jacob - The Ominous** _Jacob is the new project by David Cordero (Úrsula) and Marco Serrato (Orthodox). The duo first collaborated on the arrangements that would become the Emma soundtrack. With a mutual love for sci fi and horror films, Jacob push their dark sonics further on The Ominous, a piece for el cine de la mente. Atonal, dissonant string scrapes meld together in discomforting walls of noise, while hidden forces project an ambiguous malignance lurking in the deep fog. Bleak atmospheres and an abyss of subsonic howls threaten to devour all. A sliver of melody occasionally arises as the only light that shines into this dark place._http://www2.zippyshare.com/v/75089030/file.html

@bruce_billis:1n7wtlia:

Hace poco he conocido esta página

The Focus Group – Elektrik Karousel (Ghost Box / 2013)

@37unq8d8:
Ghost Box co-convenor Julian House is back to haunt your waking dreams with a new album of imagined library cues, test-tones, telly themes and yellowed sound-postcards from a 70s childhood you may or may not have endured. This is his first solo album as The Focus Group since 2007′s We Are All Pan’s People, though of course in 2009 there was the magickal, expansive Broadcast collaboration Investigate Witch Cults of The Radio Age. In the best possible sense, it’s a return to business as usual: a deviant collector’s collage of ersatz soft-psych, pastoral jazz, public information announcements, mystic folk and oingy-boingy Open University electronics at once utopian, melancholy, twee, trippy and sinister. It says a lot about the fecundity of Ghost Box’s aesthetic universe that House is still able to wrench material as fresh as this out of its soil, and with Belbury Poly and The Advisory Circle now pursuing a more prog and folk-influenced live band sound, Elektrik Carousel is the most satisfying Ghost Box emission in a while – at least for admirers of the unheimlich, shoppe-soiled sampladelia sensibility it was founded on.

Colleen – The Weighing of the Heart (Second Language Music / 2013)

@ajaz9ck3:
Each of the French artist’s precious LP offerings have represented a further deepening and refining of her craft, getting closer to some kind of spiritual essence. On a so-so day, she makes music that you feel privileged to hear, and on a good day she makes music that cleaves your heart in two. It’s been a long wait for new material – her last album, Les Ondes Silencieuses, is now six years old – but ‘The Weighing Of The Heart’ doesn’t disappoint, despite a considerable burden of expectation. The oneiric shimmer of her music has its contemporary analogs in the likes of Grouper and Julianna Barwick, but on this record in particular Colleen (real name Cécile Schott) communicates with an elegance and clarity few could hope to match. Some of the more obvious electronic interventions of her past work have been pared back, but she still applies a meticulous attention to overdubs, reverbs and sonic placement, giving songs rooted in courtly folk and sacred music a subtle glaze of futurism. Highlights include ‘Going Forth By Day’, an instrumental pitched between medieval drum raga and pastoral jazz, and the puckish clarinet lament of ‘Moonlit Sky’; Schott’s cello and guitar-playing, the driving force behind nearly all the songs, has achieved new heights of creamy fluency, while her singing voice is by turns playful, ethereal and confessional, discharging cryptic lyrics derived in part from yellowed religious texts but speaking, seemingly, to the here and now; and the production has a delicacy and emotional eloquence to it that even Manfred Eicher in his pomp would envy.
