Backwoodz Studioz is excited to announce the July 2nd release of Dour Candy, a collaboration between Brooklyn-based rapper billy woods (formerly of the Super Chron Flight Brothers) and Manhattan producer Blockhead (Ninja Tune, Def Jux). The album is fully produced by Blockhead and sees woods joined on the mic by Aesop Rock, Open Mike Eagle, Elucid, Moka Only and L’Wren. This project comes at an interesting point for both artists; woods is fresh off the success of his critically-acclaimed opus History Will Absolve Me, an incendiary LP that left a heavy footprint on Best Of 2012 lists. For his part, despite a veritable canon of work with Aesop Rock and a series of successful instrumental records, 2013 represents a new direction for Blockhead. “I decided I wanted to do rap albums again and I just reached out to artists that I was a fan of,” he explains. It has already been a busy year for the producer, who just released an album with indie veteran Illogic in April.

All That I Hold Dear is the second in a series of records pairing Homeboy Sandman with a single producer. The previous, Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent, was produced by El RNTC. Producer M Slago handles production on this latest release.

Northeastern street veteran Prodigy (a member of acclaimed crew Mobb Deep) has once again linked up with heavyweight producer The Alchemist to craft collaborative album, Albert Einstein. A follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut, Return of The Mac, the 16-track project includes reader-approved singles "Dough Pildin," "Give 'Em Hell," and "YNT." Throughout the set, Prodigy is joined on the mic by such collaborators as Action Bronson, Domo Genesis, Havoc, Raekwon and Roc Marciano. Alchemist handles all production on the album.

Ayer asistí a un bolo de la sesión angelina Low End Theory en Berlin y fue magnífico. Djs D-Styles, Nobody, Daddy Kev… con mc Nocando. Jugando entre el hip-hop, drum&bass/dub y electrónica variada. Hubo tiempo para 'Collard Greens' y 'Backseat Freestyle' para fardar un poco de ciudad. 8 pavos, 3 euros la cerveza fresquita en su botella y política de fume tantos porros dentro como pueda. No sé si lo colgué, pero aquí pueden escuchar lo último de Nocando:

El de earl sweatshirt lo estoy disfrutando moderadamente, pero vaya, que no habría estado mal descubrirle un discurso sonoro más específico. No deja de ser un Tyler 2.

No sé, yo lo he escuchado media docena de veces, a mí me parece un disco flipante, como mínimo a la altura de lo mejor que haya sacado Tyler (el rojo, en mi opinión). Me parece que si una cosa tiene el LP -a pesar de tener muchas colaboraciones y producciones, etc- es cohesión sonora y discurso propio, personalidad.

A mí para fliparme me falta un poco de efecto sorpresa por decirlo de alguna forma. Por ejemplo el de la chavalilla del colectivo, The Internet, sí tenía algo de eso. Pero está bien. A "Doris" le doy un notable.

Hay días en que estamos totalmente de acuerdo. A mi me está poniendo cachondo el disco. Ha hecho lo que le ha dado la gana pero suena a un pepinazo de rap underground, y no a la pataleta de Tyler.

el de a$sap ferg lleva dando vueltas desde hace días pero cualquiera se pone eso después del de earl. de todas maneras, aquí te lo dejo por si te quieres aventurar.
el de earl es una pasada, me gusta muchísimo más que cualquiera de los de tyler. me parece mucho más creíble, más serio, más seco. propio de un tipo que casi le doblase la edad. más en la línea del de ka que de cualquiera de sus companyeros de crew. además cuenta con tres pepinos, hive, chum y whoa, que ya les gustaría a muchos tener en toda su discografía.
sobre el hype y las críticas, esto es lo que piensa el amigo: I dont give a fuck how this album is gonna be recieved [sic] critically this shit is imperfect and fucking dirty and as scattered as me.

me acabo de bajar el de ras g sin haber escuchado nada previamente, me he puesto el primer tema y BOOM, me ha estallado el melón. Pinta a discazo. a tope con los technics como ceniceros de blunts.

Hola, os digo lo que hay pq lo que escribo aquí va a misa y os ahorro pensar, el bueno de Ghostaface es la versión de Apollo, el de Ghospoet normalito y el de Clipping no me ha parecido nada del otro mundo. Ahora que sabéis la valoración del prueba ya podéis descansar tranquilos. Intentaré hacer una lista de mitad de Agosto para que tengáis una guia de lo que tenéis que escuchar pq os veo un poco perdidos.
