'In Our Nature' gets busy with universal themes of the human condition, our place in the world and bypassing songs about love, opening by addressing the body-politik on 'How Low' - "…feeding a monster...invasion after invasion..." to a lilting guitar, gathering pace for the hypnotic 'Down the Line' with a riffing number about owning your problems, making mistakes and moving on - "...I see problems down the line/ I know that they're mine..." while the guitar shimmers. Our warring natures are addressed somewhat simplistically but with melody on 'Killing For Love' - "..you've got a heart filled with passion/ will you let it burn for hate or compassion..." to dexterous finger pickin' guitar work, whilst title track 'In Our Nature' has a world-weary tone with a Nick Drake-lean and minimalism, a touch of 60's idealism in the lyrics - "...put down your sword/ send home your dogs/ open up your doors...".

yo me he ido a comprar un disco duro portátil de 40 gb por vuestra culpa.
muchas gracias por estas últimas páginas. Me estáis deprimiendo aún más en estas lluviosas mañanas barcelonesas. ¿Little Wings? no los conocía y… wow. ¿Spokane? Otro wow. Por otro lado no me gusta el nuevo de Lekman, lo siento; sé que algunos sóis fans incondicionales.
Gracias por el de Akron/Family, José González, John Vaderslice, Les Savy Fav y obviamente, por el de Richard Hawley (¿dónde está corcobado para convencerle a que se pase otra vez por aqui?).
Me tiene encantado el de Okkervil River, mejor que el Black Sheep. Gravenhurst también muy bien y Vic Chesnutt sobrecogedor.
Ale, que llueva.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/fdf1nyWinter Family son Ruth Rosental, una israelí con una voz triste donde las haya, recitando poemas en spoken word sobre las (casi siempre) austeras y emocionales notas del piano del francés Xavier Klaine. La banda sonora perfecta para un entierro.

Astral Social Club - Neon Pibroch (Important, 2007)

Astral Social Club is the pseudonym of one Neil Campbell, a man whose involvement in the UK's experimental music scene has been well documented. Through his work with the Vibracathedral Orchestra and the Sunroof! guise he has consistently amazed and enthralled listeners, not only bringing together a huge legion of fans but also managing to influence countless young acts. This latest work sees the astral traveler moving into further realms and finally putting a capital 'c' on club, bringing in 4/4 beats into the psychedelic fold for a change. You think I'm kidding, I can tell, but I'm being deadly serious, pitted head-on against the shimmering beauty of Campbell's synthesized pads and patented drones are pounding warehouse beats, the sort of beats you'd expect to hear at some disused Birmingham lock-up, not in the recorded output a man best known for making jams that out-psych Sunburned Hand of the Man. It's no bad thing though, and as you can probably imagine this ain't your ordinary dance music as Campbell uses the teutonic beats to inform the path of the devastating drones and noise that grows around them. Elsewhere on the album we are treated to two long-form and more typical pieces of blissful dream-drone, but my money's on the first track. Excellent stuff.

Xeltrei - Litotes (Library Tapes) 2007

Litotes are, as Webster’s states, “understatement ~~in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of the contrary.” In plain English, litotes are phrases, such as “not bad” or “not that wonderful,” where the opposite meanings of the adjectives (bad, wonderful) are put forward (not bad = good; not that wonderful = awful). Xeltrei’s “Litotes” is an incredible exercise in restraint which lives up to the aforementioned concept as an amazing piece of musical understatement that still bursts with memory and meaning. Not bad, indeed.
Xeltrei hails from Sweden and consists of Erica on piano and David (of Library Tapes) on piano, field recordings, and computer. Their short album is made up of ten tracks of delicate, muffled piano melodies mixed with an array of crumbling sounds. Xeltrei explains their collaboration as “lo-fi piano music made with love.” Indeed, each song is quite simple, but extremely heartfelt. The music sounds almost like a forgotten, homemade cassette where each melancholy note on the piano is allowed to resonate before it fades. Additionally, some of the shorter tracks play like small, salvaged fragments of song that fade or cut out quickly, adding to the lost and found quality of the music.
Piano is only half of the story, of course. The various found sounds and effects, add to the atmosphere. These manipulations enhance the feeling that this is a lo-fi recording affected by incidental noise. The real success of “Litotes” is that it draws the listener into this simulated space with its sonic quirks. It is extremely easy to become lost in thought listening to this album, placing yourself inside the sound and remembering your own versions of the personal moments reflected in the music.
Truly, it is rare that an album can say everything it needs to say so subtly. “Litotes” is the perfect compliment to memories of days past with its dual senses of history and melancholy. It’s a credit to the music that something so minimal and understated could brim with so much feeling and thought. Xeltrei has succeeded in creating an essential piece of mood music that is both achingly beautiful and timeless. 10/10

Little Dragon - Little Dragon [Peacefrog, 2007]

Featuring radiant vocalist Yukimi Nagano and her close high school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrick Källgren (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards), Little Dragon stepped into the spotlight with the release of their first double A-side single on Peacefrog (home to José and Findlay Brown), ‘Twice’/’Test’. A former Rough Trade ‘Single of the Week’ and “universally hailed as a masterpiece of free thinking soul”, according to One Week To Live.·Yukimi has sung with Sweden’s electronica-jazz outfit Koop, and both Yukimi and Erik play live with José González. Erik also drums with Peps Perrson, a legendary Swedish blues/reggae artist.

La segunda cosa, he leido que ya esta filtrado por ahí el nuevo de Beirut y por aqui nadie lo ha puesto, me parece muy mal, dejaros de colgar grupos raritos/experimentales/postrockistas y colgar del de Beirut Leñe!
