Bueno, como me he tomado el trabajillo de hacer un solo tracklist, y poner en negrita los nombres, ahí lo dejo por si a alguien (como a mí) se le pasó en su día.

En efecto hay cosas muy chulas, aunque ya se sabe con los discos de versiones. Así a bote pronto me habían gustado mucho la del título, As I went out one morning (creo que me gustaría cualquier versión), las de Tweedy y Lanegan. Prescindibilísima la última y alguna otra. Ah, leñe y la de la Gata, que clava la original sumándole algo de esa desidia lasciva que tan bien se le da.

Alguien tiene el disco de Her Only Presence? se llama The Hurting Process. Me toy volviendo loco buscándolo…

Cripes, where did this come from? This is a new limited edition (not to mention beautifully packaged) Will Oldham album in which he combines with Faun Fables' Dawn McCarthy for an alternate take on material penned for the last Bonnie 'Prince' Billy album. The incredibly rough recordings that make up Wai Notes were once demos for The Letting Go album, an LP that was about as hi-fi and full-blooded as you could ever hope to hear. Perhaps because of those maxed-out production values, the album tended to split opinion between long-term Oldham followers, but hearing the songs in their nascent form is sure to be unanimously well received among Bonnie 'Prince' Billy die-hards. The format is pared down to just Oldham and McCarthy singing whilst accompanied by a little acoustic guitar and a whole lot of tape hiss. It's rather odd to hear a song like 'Cursed Sleep' bereft of its lavish string arrangements, but here it is complete with errors and fumbled lyrics, and it sounds just great. Of course to get the full benefit of an album like this it really helps if you know the songs as they appeared on the album in the first place, but even if this is your first time dipping into the material there remains an obvious beauty to these coarse documents. It's interesting that McCarthy gets first billing on the CD, her voice seems to be more defined and spatially diffuse than Oldham's own performance - presumably it's been overdubbed at some later time with some slightly higher quality equipment. In any case the uncompromising physicality and intimacy of the material here makes for a wonderful listening experience. Very highly recommended. (boomkat)

Es un directo de jay reatard de este año, un par de semanas antes del show del primavera. Dura sólo 13 minutos, pero son 13 minutazos.

he estado bastante tiempo detrás de este disco y hasta hoy no lo he conseguido pillar. la verdad es que en primera escucha ha sido un poco decepcionante, pero bueno… (muy) rollo liars mezclado con art-punk chillón y desencajado.

Christina Carter has trekked around this country (and planet) countless times in the past decade plus, both by herself and with Tom Carter in Charalambides, and the constant gypsy-drifting has weathered her song-stories down into spare, spiral reflections on life, death, and afterlife. Here she lays down four perfect vignettes of acoustic guitar pattern, softly sung desperation, and dangerous intimacy. A beatific bring-down. Sisters-with-voices Pocahaunted handle the B side wax, and their two tracks span the psych-ward spectrum from doomy warpath exile (“Sweat Lodge”) to octave-climbing estrogen ecstasy cloud-tripping (“Silk Fog Traveler”). Both were recorded by Bobb Bruno at Eagle Rock HQ across summer ’07 and cling like cotton to the memory banks.
