Compuesto y grabado en Atenas entre 2006 y 2007 incluye futuros clásicos como ‘Muchos colores’, ‘Kubrick’, ‘Epso Meth Lama’ y ‘Big Olive’.

Brand new solo LP from Heather Leigh Murray represents a wild body swerve from the arc of her career to date, with three vocal/pedal steel songs that flit between mainlined avant boogie that tips the finger to both John Lee Hooker and Keiji Haino circa Black Blues, lyrics that have that same street-tough hip/flip style of Alan Vega and the kind of explosive, iconoclastic melodies that Don and Albert Ayler used to bring down the kingdom. The guitar playing is massively inventive, picking out hypnotic tone-implosions with the most tactile use of illuminating electricity before dropping down into endless slipstreams of choral constructs and vocal/harmonica jams that would marry Dylan '66 with Kaoru Abe and Alan 'Blind Owl' Wilson. It sounds nothing like what any else is doing right now. Comes in a glorious private press-style sleeve with a sun-struck cover and some hermetic line-drawings on the back. Highest possible recommendation.

gastando los últimos cartuchos, algunos discos que se me habían pasado de electrónica, un año bastante malo por cierto en este estilo, bueno burial, pero llego demasiado tarde para poder decir que el 2007 ha sido un buen año en música electrónica.

**Frog Pocket - Come On Primates Show Your Teeth!** >> Planet Mu, ya os podeis hacer una idea de que va, glitch, idm, drill&bass, gabber, de todo un poco, su anterior disco Gonglot (2005) y fue de lo mejorcito ese año en el campo, y lo vi tmb en directo y se sale, mezclando violín, con breaks sucios y desgarrados, ris ras…todo un freak el tio.

el de los Sic Alps es magnífico. rock sesentero con un ramalazo psicodélico importante. el disco tiene un tema largo y rarucio la mar de freakie y nueve petardazos la mar de salados. recomendadísimo. y también el 7" del año pasado, 'strawberry guillotine'.

muy buena pinta lo de los Éthiopiques. El redactor de Pitchfork le da el visto bueno -y algo más- como guía de introducción a esa música, que es justo lo que necesito (la descubrí en la banda sonora de Broken Flowers)

Jasper TX - In A Cool Monsoon (2007)

A serious contender for his best album so far, Jasper TX's In A Cool Monsoon is possibly his most varied and accessible work to date, appropriating a more pop-oriented sound than on prior outings. There's a heightened attention to song structure on this album, with Dag Rosenqvist's multi-instrumental sound tapestries more clearly defined, penetrating the electronic mist. The Fennesz /Tim Hecker comparisons are still there to be made, and 'Still A Tiny Light?' certainly invites that, but pieces like the beautiful 'Bending Spoons' demonstrate that Rosenqvist has outgrown merely being a sum of his influences. Scrappy drums back up reverberating melodica lines while guitars plot out an atmospheric tension, it's not quite post-rock, but nor is it discernibly electronica. The organic drones and haunting chord sequences of 'Summer' are similarly charged with a sense of mod and location, functioning as an acoustic counterpart to the elegiac digital resonance of 'I Will Be Birds When I Die', which takes its shape from swathes of shimmering synthesizer and muddy field recordings. At around twelve minutes 'Waking Up' is the longest piece here, and perhaps as a result of this, one of the weaker contributions. No major damage is done, but the key to much of the album's success is in its focus and clarity, but in this instance you get the sense that Rosenqvist is placing too great an emphasis on the repetition of a floating tremolo guitar motif which isn't necessarily enough of a foundation for such a lengthy piece. Far, far more successful is the gorgeous 'And Still A Tiny Light', a delightful tangle of noise, glacial melodies and understated glockenspiel melodies - it's the kind of thing you'd expect to hear as an instrumental interlude on a Sigur Ros album. As a follow-up, and grand finale, 'Falling From The Sky Like A Flock Of Burning Birds' makes for a wonderful, extended coda. After a deep grey, nebulous beginning, shards of sonorous sparkle effervesce from the mix in the form of tiny glockenspiel gestures, only for the piece to suddenly accumulate a more direct sense of momentum and purpose by a final few moments of escalating guitar phrases. Excellent.

Después de escuchar el disco, espero que caigan en el Primavera. Podrían estar bastante bien a primera hora de la tarde en un ATP, por ejemplo. El 'You Are The Space Invader' engancha, aunque luego el disco del tirón se haga bola (lo mejor es dosificarlo y escucharlo con calma, como debe ser).

Sensaciones agridulces rebotan contra un telón oscuro que solo se abrirá cuando descansen. Dos hombres, armados con cajas de ritmos, sonidos minimalistas, rezos y voces inquietantes, seguirán luchando sin cerrar los ojos ni un solo segundo. Por ello, se enfundan el disfraz de justicieros electrónicos y se preparan para el ataque más bello. Bombardeo inminente.

Unos chillan. Otros lloran. Protestar, todos protestamos. ¿Cuál será el secreto? Olivier Mellano y Gaël Desbois diseñaron su estrategia basándose en conceptos inteligentes y pacíficos. Con picos de intensidad y palas en mente, buscan enterrar los males sociales bajo toneladas de estética. Pero primero, apuñalan la realidad directamente ahí donde más duele. En pleno corazón, resaltando así todos los detalles con los que ya nos hemos acostumbrado a vivir.

Románticamente, denuncian, protestan convirtiendo el odio en ambiguas alucinaciones. La lucha empieza desde el minuto 0 con el magnífico ‘Arroser La Colère’ que despierta rebeldías, indisciplinas y esas desobediencias tan necesarias para frenar las carrerillas diabólicas. La muerte hecha polvo y descrita como un poema aparece en ‘Des Chants’, himno a la defunción casi capaz de atraernos hacia ese estado físico único e inevitable.

¿Es la paz posible? A priori no. Ellos lo saben, pero tenían que intentarlo. Esa frase, “You Can Dream My Son” se repite hasta el infinito en ‘Est-ce Qu’un Jour On Les Aura?’ y deja claro que seguiremos compartiendo tiempo y espacio con los sólidos desequilibrios. Mientras escuchamos atentamente mensajes recitados como en ‘Fragilité’ o ‘L’Art De Tuer La Mort’, siempre podremos soñar despiertos con horizontes menos pesimistas.
