¿Reedciones de los Jam? Y siguen tirando de la teta (más libras para Mr. Weller). Esta mañana he estado apunto de comprarme el In The City, el This Is The Modern World y el Sound Affects de segunda mano…pero creo que espararé a ver si, dentro de un tiempo, encuentro estas reediciones de ocasión, como ya pasa con las reediciones de los Ramones.
Aunque, pensandolo bien, no me voy a dar mucha prisa...me conozco esos discos de memoria. -
Esto de The Jam me acaba de recordar una anécdota que me contó un amigo cercano a la dirección del FNAC Callao: cuando Paul Weller vino a Madrid hace poco y se suspendió su concierto, ya con la Fnac cerrada al público le dijeron que cogiese lo que quisiese de la tienda, y va el tío… y se fue directo a por la caja de The Jam. Única y exclusivamente. Viva el ego (él que puede, genio y figura).

Go-Betweens singer dies in sleep

Legendary singer-songwriter and frontman of The Go-Betweens, Grant McLennan, has died at his Brisbane home, aged 48.
McLennan died in his sleep yesterday, The Go-Betweens website reports.
The Go-Betweens became heroes of the Queensland music scene with songs such as Bachelor Kisses and Through the Streets of Your Town.
McLennan and Robert Forster formed the band while attending university in Brisbane during the Bjelke-Petersen days of the 1970s, when McLennan was arrested for participating in protests.
The Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) recently voted his autobiographical song Cattle and Cane as one of the 10 greatest Australian songs of all time.
McLennan also won an ARIA award for Best Contemporary Album last year for the band's most recent offering, Oceans Apart.
"McLennan was a passionate supporter of the arts, extremely well-read and maintained a keen interest in all contemporary music, cinema and visual art," the website said.
"He was an exceptionally charming and polite man who endeared himself to everyone who met him and was one of the rare individuals worthy of the epithet larger than life.
"His singular contribution to music and his commitment to his craft simply cannot be understated. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."
McLennan was raised by his mother on a cattle-station in Rockhampton in central Queensland.
He is survived by his mother, sister, brother and girlfriend Emma.

Les Très Bien Ensemble: Viajan a Inglaterra
El grupo liderado por la pequeña Suzette acompañó hace pocos meses al mítico grupo británico WOULD-BE-GOODS en las tres fechas de su gira española. Elefant y Fortuna Pop!, los sellos discográficos respectivos, aprovecharon la ocasión para editar un exclusivo CD -"Que Viva Le Pop!"- con lo mejor de ambos catálogos, que se regalaba con la entrada a dichos conciertos.
Por fin ha llegado el momento de devolver la visita y llevar a cabo la misma acción conjunta en el Reino Unido. WOULD-BE-GOODS y LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE actuarán a finales de junio en Londres, Nottingham y Oxford, en una serie de conciertos donde también compartirán escenario con THE CUT-OUTS y THE CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT. Y, por supuesto, con la entrada se regalará a los asistentes su ejemplar de la recopilación "Que Viva Le Pop!".Estos no son los únicos conciertos internacionales de LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE, que el próximo 13 de mayo actuarán en el Fairfield Café de Toulouse (Francia), acompañados por el grupo local MOMOTTE.

De Australia y del mundo Maurici, quizá una de las bandas más infravaloradas en la historia de la música contemporánea, melodias eternas, nunca morirán, resito en llorar, me ha conmovido.

White Stripes/Raconteurs rocker Jack White and his model wife Karen Elson have welcomed their first child. The little girl, named Scarlett Teresa, was born in Tennessee on Tuesday May 2nd. Her middle name is in honor of Jack's mother.
