Los hermanos Reid han confirmado, al fin, que la resurrección de The Jesus and Mary Chain no se limitará a los conciertos sino que habrá un nuevo disco, en el que ya están trabajando.
Ha sido el manager de la banda, Kevin Oberlin, el que ha hecho algunas aclaraciones al respecto en una entrevista a la revista Billboard. Oberlin ha confesado que al principio, antes de la reunión del grupo, estaban "trabajando en los discos en solitario de Jim y William" y que cuando contactó con el promotor del festival norteamericano de Coachella para negociar una actuación de Jim, "ellos nos hicieron una oferta para que tocasen Jesus and Mary Chain" y no sólo Jim Reid. Y además de poder llenarse el bolsillo con alguna gira, pronto surgió la idea de un nuevo disco, del que William Reid confiesa que "será más bien una evolución. Suena a Jesus and Mary Chain pero creo que uno evoluciona tanto como persona como compositor. No puedes estancarte. Si lo haces, estás perdido".
De momento son muchos los sellos que se han interesado por el lanzamiento, tanto multinacionales como sellos alternativos. Oberlin se deja querer y argumenta que "la banda siempre ha tomado sus propias decisiones en función de sus intereses sin tener en cuenta muchas de las presiones externas y tomándoselo con calma".

The Gang of Four are back in the studio working on new songs and recordings for release in 2008. Dave Allen is posting about the process of writing and recording and also posting rough takes of the new songs to his blog as the band work their way through all the ideas on the table. At the end of the message is a link to a MP3 of the first rough recording. There'll be more coming over the next couple of weeks. Here's what Dave has to say about it all.
"To prove that we are actually working and not just sitting around debating Situationism or the collapse of the recording industry, I have posted below a very rough recording (culled from video footage I shot) of a new song that I will call Password (you can be certain that this title will change.) The aim here is that if you are inclined to follow our progress as we write and record then these MP3 posts will be like milestones which can be used later to compare the genesis of a song against the final version.
We are debating, as we do, how we will release the finished goods. Jon King reminds us that our career kick-off was defined by the Damaged Goods EP, a three song, cheaply recorded debut that made a lot of waves in the UK and European press well before we signed to the majors. So how about we start the new round of releases with a 4 song digital EP? Probably. The 'album' could then be built over time and released eventually as a CD, but in a compelling, high-value package that makes it valuable to our fans. We have those 4 song ideas as I write and they will be burnished and honed over the next 12 weeks or so. It then makes sense to get them into the hands (and ears) of the public as quickly as possible. Digital makes the most sense along with downloadable artwork, a vinyl record with free MP3s and remixes."Go to Pampelmoose to get the MP3.

LONDRES. Los Jackson Five vuelven. Jermaine Jackson aseguró ayer a la BBC que sus otros hermanos y él han convencido a Michael para reconstituir el grupo y protagonizar una gira en 2008, incluso con nuevas canciones. Jermaine se mostró seguro de que ese viejo sueño se hará realidad, aunque no concretó cómo de avanzado está el proyecto.
En un momento de reaparición de otros grupos, como Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Sex Pistols e incluso las Spice Girls, ¿cómo no creer al guitarrista y primer vocalista de los Jackson Five? Todo dependerá del cambiante estado de ánimo de Michael Jackson. Cuando triunfaron juntos eran unos niños, y ahora son ya más que adultos, pero desde luego en más plenitud que otros célebres cantantes y músicos que vuelven a reunirse.
«Michael tiene que estar»
«Michael tiene que estar. Es un Jackson. Ha estado en las reuniones. Michael estará implicado», declaró Jermaine a la emisora BBC 6 Music. La intención era ya haber tomado esta iniciativa hace unos años, y ciertamente los rumores comenzaron a circular. Pero todo quedó parado debido al juicio llevado a cabo contra Michael Jackson en 2005. «Hemos tenido muchos obstáculos, con todo lo del juicio de Michael. Pero ahora estamos más fuertes que nunca. Quisiera dar las gracias a todos quienes han dado apoyo a mi familia en toda Europa», afirmó.
Según Jermaine, todos los hermanos sienten la necesidad de juntarse una vez más y «hacer un tour en algún momento de 2008; eso es algo que se lo debemos a nuestros seguidores y a todo el público». También sugirió que los hermanos están elaborando nuevo material, al indicar que la banda «está trabajando en el estudio».
La última gira del grupo, ya como Los Jackson, con seis miembros (Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine, Michael y Randy), fue en 1984 con el lanzamiento de su álbum «The Victory». Michael Jackson, que ya había publicado su propio álbum «Thriller», se había mostrado remiso a lanzarse a la carretera con el resto de la familia.
En la última noche de la gira anunció a la audiencia que dejaba el grupo. Aún lanzarían otro álbum en 1989, «2.300 Jackson Street», antes de que al año siguiente se disolvieran formalmente.
El grupo alcanzó fama en la década de 1970 con títulos como «I Want You Back», «ABC» y «Shake Your Body (Down To The Grown)». El éxito de Michael Jackson en solitario eclipsó a sus hermanos en los años 80. También su hermana Janet alcanzó preeminencia con su propia carrera musical.
Jermaine Jackson intervino en el Reino Unido en una de las últimas ediciones del «Gran Hermano de los Famosos», en la que no tuvo mucha suerte.OH YEAAA JAKO !!

Los Loney Dear ya tienen apuntito su nuevo disco según su Myspace. Se llama "River Fontana" a ver quien consigue filtrarlo antes… en ello estoy.

La SGAE jamaicana, la denominada JAMMS (Jamaica Music Society), que pretende defender los derechos de los artistas, contará entre otros con el respaldo explícito de Pat Kelly , conocido solista del período rock steady que lograra cuantiosas ventas con sus éxitos "How Long (Will It Take)" o "Talk About Love".
"No se hacía dinero aquellos días" reconoce Kelly "y no era el dinero lo clave. Suena cómico decirlo ahora, pero el dinero no era lo trascendente. No sabíamos nada sobre el dinero en aquella época, tan sólo queríamos tener una canción en la radio, que las chicas la escuchasen, ese tipo de detalles." Sirva de ejemplo la recaudación lograda por su tema "You Don´t Care For Me At All": 16 libras esterlinas, que hubieran supuesto en torno a 2.336 dólares si extrapolamos dicha cifra a la actualidad.
Pero no es su apoyo a la JAMMS el único aspecto reseñable de Kelly, puesto que anda involucrado en un nuevo larga duración "que verá la luz en Jamaica en Enero/Febrero" y para el cual no se ha decidido el título y un libro sobre su trayectoria vital, que responderá al título "No Further Fears" y en el que lleva trabajando la friolera de 12 años. Incluso se plantea la posibilidad de regrabar su canción "How Long" desde una perspectiva dancehall o editar un nuevo single, "Why Why Why", registrado en Tuff Gong.

_NEW ALBUM! After long last, we've got some exciting news about Adam's new record!!!!
"Sixes & Sevens", Adam's 5th solo record will be release by Rough Trade Records in Europe on March 7th, 2008. A few days later, on March 10th, it will be released in the UK, followed closely by a US release of March 18th!
The first single will be coming soon, as will some news regarding the upcoming touring schedule. We plan to do a UK tour, a European tour, and a US tour all before JUNE!!! Also, keep your eyes peeled for Adam at your favorite summer festivals!
This year, Adam will be on the road a lot, so keep checking to here for updates! Whoo hoo!!
