Manta Ray se separan, tal y como adelantó el diario Público en la tarde de ayer. La formación asturiana ha decidido poner fin a quince años de trayectoria en los que han dado a luz seis álbumes, otros tantos singles y EPs, y en los que han colaborado con formaciones como Diabologum o Schwarz.

El batería de la formación, Xabel Vegas, ha declarado que la disolución de uno de los referentes del "indie" patrio nada tiene que ver con su proyecto en solitario.

yo estaba como tu y el jueves fui al de madrid a regañadientes, no había escuchado casi nada del disco y ultimamente este señor estaba empezando a aburrirme mucho, pero me encantó.

me pareció la mejor banda con la que ha tocado nacho vegas de lejos (todos bien, pero el teclista sobre todo), el sonido increible, la puesta en escena cuidada y las interpretaciones muy intensas.

la versión que el sr. vegas se marcó solito en los bises de en el pozo maria luisa con muchos de los asturianos que había por allí cantando todos a una fue muy emocianante.

al hilo del nuevo disco de NIN, hoy me ha llegado esto de Brian, el pedazo batería de dresden dolls que por lo que parece ha metido cullerada en el disco este y parece q está mas que satisfecho con la expérience…

~ Hello Everyone ~

I am thrilled to announce the release of
the new Nine Inch Nails album, Ghosts I-IV.

I had the great pleasure this past December to work with Trent Reznor
and contribute some drum tracks to the new album.
Trent really opened the door for it to be a very creative experience
and allowed him to achieve what he needed musically,
while allowing me free reign to express myself and ideas on the drums.

Here's a little re-cap of that weekend:
Day 1:
Trent said, "I thought a fun art project for today would be to have you put some
things together
to play on and we could improve some stuff tonight. I don't really have room for a big
drum kit and all the mics here,
but, let your imagination go and we'll help you piece together what you need.
When you get something together, we'll record tonight.
Go nuts, see you in a few hours."

So I put this together from stuff around his house, Home Depot, and the grocery store.
It sounded cool as hell.

Day 2:
Trent said, "I'd love to record you behind a full drum kit, so today, I'll send you
and Alessandro to S.I.R. sound stage
and you can just set up and play whatever comes to your mind. Try to make it a mix of
styles and dynamics, loose to all-out playing.
Give us a few different BPMs for each beat you play with the click, and have fun."

So I did.
The room was HUGE and so was the sound which came from the drums.
When I got back home from the afternoon of recording,
Trent mentioned that he liked the sound of the junk kit recordings
from the day before and would I mind doing a little more.
So I went back into the room and put on the headphones and they said to me,
"We're just going to give you a tempo on the click, play whatever comes into your head
and improvise on it after you establish the basic groove."

I finished and hadn't even realized that I had just completed the drum
part to a song that they had already finished up.
The next morning they integrated my part into the song
and it was a crazy feeling hear myself integrated into
the music of a group who've I've been a fan of for years.

It was a great experience and hope you all enjoy the music.

Si a estas alturas Pitchfork es, probablemente, el portal musical independiente de referencia en todo el mundo, no deja de ser una gran noticia que los norteamericanos se hayan decidido a lanzar su propio canal de televisión online, Pitchfork.tv, que comenzará sus emisiones el 7 de Abril.

En su comunicado, explican que una de las razones que los anima a este proyecto es que "la música independiente nunca ha tenido un hogar estable", en contraste con el cine independiente, por ejemplo. De esta forma, anuncian orgullosos que el 7 de Abril verá la luz "el primer canal exclusivamente dedicado a reflejar la música independiente al mismo tiempo que ésta ocurre" y que se plantea como "una extensión de la cobertura musical que desde hace diez años proporciona Pitchfork". No sólo incluirá una cuidada selección de videoclips, sino también mini-documentales, conciertos, entrevistas exclusivas, etc. Pero además, se convertirá en el primel canal de televisión online que emita integramente películas, viejos conciertos y DVDs de música gratuitamente: desde la película de la reunión de los Pixies en 2004 hasta las creaciones visuales de Jimmy Joe Roche y Dan Deacon, con el aliciente de que podremos disfrutar de las mismas con la mejor calidad de imagen disponible y cuando queramos, poniendo a disposición del espectador un servicio de televisión a la carta.

El esperado canal que al fin ve la luz, seguirá la máxima de Pitchfork: será un proyecto basado en la independencia, al igual que el portal, lo que garantiza su libertad y control de los contenidos. Como ellos explican, "hemos estado esperando durante décadas por un canal musical que respete nuestra inteligencia y refleje nuestros ideales. Ahora que la tecnología está aquí, estamos en condiciones de hacerlo de la forma en que las personas a las que les gusta la música siempre han querido que se haga".
