Pavement planning reunion
The former members of Pavement have been in discussions about reforming - and may get back together in 2009.
The band have pencilled in the forthcoming Matador Records party, due to be held in 2009 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the record label's conception, as a possible date for their live return.
Ex-Pavement guitarist Scott Kannberg, speaking to EW.com, said, "Matador is having a 20th anniversary party soon, so maybe we'll try to do something for that. The only hurdle might be getting everyone to drop what they're doing, but I'm sure the excitement of playing again will make it OK."
Frontman Stephen Malkmus, however, said that he favoured a one-off reunion further down the line.
"Something small in ten years like the [Led] Zeppelin thing [their London O2 Arena gig in December last year] sounds good to me," he said. "Obviously, the arena would be smaller than theirs, though."
Bassist Mark Ibold, meanwhile, joked, "Why not next month? No, it needs to be carefully planned. What obstacles stand in the way? Learning the songs again. I've actually dreamt that there was a reunion show and I couldn't remember the songs."

Vuelve Robert Foster de Go-Betweens
Tras la muerte de Grant McLennan hace casi dos años, su inseparable compañero en The Go-Betweens, por fin el australiano Robert Forster se ha decidido recompensar a sus numerosos seguidores con la grabación de nuevo material. El nuevo álbum, que llevará por título The Evangelist y será publicado por Yep Roc el próximo 29 de abril, vuelve a contar en su reparto con músicos que ya habían trabajado con The Go-Betweens y está producido por Mark Wallis y Dave Ruffy, que ya produjeron en su día el último trabajo de la mítica banda australiana.
Como el propio Robert dijo sobre su disco: "En mayo de 2006 Grant McLennan, mi compañero escribiendo canciones, murió, llevando a su fin a The Go-Betweens. Yo no estaba seguro de si volvería a hacer otro disco, pero este verano se materializó. Es un disco directo. He escrito siete de las canciones, y tres están co-escritas con Grant".Las canciones que formarán parte de The Evangelist son las siguientes:

Manta Ray se separan, tal y como adelantó el diario Público en la tarde de ayer. La formación asturiana ha decidido poner fin a quince años de trayectoria en los que han dado a luz seis álbumes, otros tantos singles y EPs, y en los que han colaborado con formaciones como Diabologum o Schwarz.
El batería de la formación, Xabel Vegas, ha declarado que la disolución de uno de los referentes del "indie" patrio nada tiene que ver con su proyecto en solitario.
Joder que pena mas grande, uno de mis grupos favoritos de aqui; no me enteré de esta noticia en su día, sabia que con tanto mensaje por leer me iba a dejar algo.

Their music may be slowcore, but their bass player situation is pure heavy metal. After just a few years handling the low-end of Low, bassist Matt Livingston– himself the successor to Tool-touting, comics-crafting Zak Sally-- has left both Low and Alan Sparhawk's side project that goes to 11, Retribution Gospel Choir.
For the latest on this development, we take you to the official statement from Low:
"Low has lost another bass player. Mimi [Parker] and Alan [Sparhawk] are beginning to wonder if maybe THEY are the problem. Matt Livingston is no longer in Low and Retribution Gospel Choir. He is going through some personal situations right now that have made it impossible to remain with the band. Steve Garrington will be playing bass for both bands on tours coming up this year."
Greet Garrington and wish him luck on a whole mess of upcoming dates for both acts. Since our last report, Low have bookended their European jaunt with a few U.S. dates, while RGC have lined up an assortment of gigs on both sides of the Atlantic reaching into July.
Finally, don't forget the amped-up and rather awesome Retribution Gospel Choir arrives March 18 on Caldo Verde.
