_Superchunk vuelven a grabar ocho años después
Ocho años después de que la banda de Mac McCaughan y Laura Ballance publicasen Here's To Shutting up y cuando muchos de sus fans habían perdido la esperanza al encontrarse la pareja centrada en su sello Merge Records, ha sido anunciado un nuevo disco de Superchunk a publicar el próximo 7 de abril._

joder, piel de gallina, vaya notición!
Manel una recomendación, no sé si sabras quien es Tom Scharpling, lleva desde los 80 conduciendo el "Best show of wfmu" un programa donde Tom da un tema y la gente llama a decir lo que les da la gana (si Sharpling no les corta cuando le sale de los cojones), pues bueno el programa es lo más hilarante y surrealista que he escuchado en años, la crema y nata del relativamente nuevo stand up comedy de los states son compadres de Tom (mete en la lista por ejemplo al enorme Patton Oswalt o Paul F. Tomkins otro crack que tiene una serie de televisión inclusive).
El programa en sí es una pasada especialmente si entiendes bien inglés claro, pero la parte más ENORME es cuando de pronto llama un tipo (como cualquier otra persona) y sale de la nada a debatir con Tom temas de lo más surrealistas, el tipo va cambiando de personaje en sus distintas llamadas así puede pasar de ser un vendedor de hot dogs, un adivino / futurologo, un sobreviviente de dos accidentes aéreos, etc.
Pero a qué no sabes quien es ese tipo ?, y aquí viene la relación con Superchunk….pues JON WURSTER, nada más y nada menos que el batería de Superchunk, ya en los videos de los chunks se le veía todo un cachondo, pero es que lo que hace con Scharpling es para mearse de risa, si puedes accede a los podcast o te los paso yo que tengo varios, vale MUCHO la pena.
El mejor hasta ahora para mi es donde Wurster hace de Calvin Juniper, un tipo que tiene la habilidad de ir al más allá y traer al más aca a distintos personajes, entre ellos a Mozart (que resulta ser fan de Rivers Cuomo, Metallica y de los ipods), el gran BaBe Ruth (que le pide explicaciones a Scharpling de por qué los Dire Straits se burlan de el en su hit Walk of life o Sultans of Swing), en fin. imperdible en serio, no me canso de recomendarlos.
bueno al final ha quedado offtopicaso lo siento.

jon wurster tiene un lado para el stand up comedy, desde luego. no sé si sabes que estuvo trabajando en el show de conan o´brien durante bastante tiempo. sus diarios de gira son divertidísimos, pero de llorar de risa, no sé si todavía los tienen colgados en la página del grupo. totalmente recomendables.

Despite each releasing a solo album in 2008 and having plenty of other projects on their plates, multi-instrumentalist Spencer Seim and drummer Zach Hill are working on their first full-length album as Hella in four years.The new album will be completed and released sometime in 2009, but a label has not yet been chosen for the release. Here’s hoping that it’s a return to the brilliant form of the melodic, finger-tapped guitar and spastic yet accessible beats of Hold Your Horse Is or the electro-fusion of Total Bugs Bunny on Wild Bass.

Klaxons sell out
Klaxons have been told to re-record parts of the second album after it was rejected by their record label, Universal, NME.COM can reveal.
The had been working on the follow-up to 2007's 'Myths Of The Near Future' with producer James Ford, but after rumours began circulating that all was not well with the sessions, band member Jamie Reynolds confirmed that they had been sent back into the studio.
"Yes [we were asked to re-record part of the album]," he confirmed to NME.COM. "Because we've made a really dense, psychedelic record. We've made a really heavy record and it isn't the right thing for us, I understand and know that. First and foremost we're a pop band. I haven't thought about that for a long time, and now it's in the forefront of my mind."
Reynolds said that now they had embarked on writing new songs to add to the album. "We've got another four weeks," he said. "At the end of those four weeks everything should be dealt with."

MARCH 2009 - A few words regarding our friends at Touch and Go / Quarterstick Records.
We're profoundly thankful for having a relationship with a label that treats musicians like human beings, that does business fairly and honestly, and has true punk spirit.
Unfortunately, the music industry and general economic climate has become really toxic for any label that does everything with a handshake, has no contracts, and doesn't make commercial albums. Touch and Go announced a few days ago that it will dramatically reduce the size of the label… while keeping all the catalog in print (around 400 releases) it will not be working on new albums for the foreseeable future.
Our biggest concern is the welfare of our friends and family in Chicago... the people at the label that have given us such support over multiple decades. We seriously fuckin' love them. As for Shipping News... we don't have a clear idea of what we will do with the album we've been writing. We are still rehearsing over the next few months and will be recording in the Fall. It's possible we'll make it here in Louisville and self-release it - or work with friends that have other small labels. Our goal is to remain committed and available to Touch and Go/Quarterstick for the duration of our band's life... and whatever way we move forward will be with their best interest in mind at all times. As for new material, Waits and his long time collaborator and wife, Kathleen Brennan, have begun writing new songs, which they plan to record this summer for an upcoming CD. (No release date at this time.)

_Steve Jones, de los Sex Pistols, se incorpora a los Stooges
El guitarrista de los Sex Pistols, Steve Jones, se incorpora a los Stooges en sustitución de Ron Asheton, quien falleció el 6 de enero. Iggy Pop ha declarado que habló con Jones, y si “había que buscar a otro guitarrista, él era el tipo al que había que llamar. El grupo sigue existiendo. Y no voy a decir nada más sobre esto”. Los Stooges se reunieron en 2007 para publicar el álbum The Weirdness y ofrecer diversos conciertos._

Jack White ya tiene tres bandas en activo. A White Stripes y Raconteurs, ahora se les une Dead Weather. White, que toca la batería y canta, está acompañado por Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs) y Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age/Raconteurs). El primer álbum de este supergrupo, Horehound, lo publicará Third Man en junio. Como anticipo, ya se ha publicado un single, que en la cara A contiene la canción “Hang You Up From The Heavens” y en la B una versión del “Are Friends Electrics?” de Gary Numan._
