Nuevo disco de Godspeed You Black Emperor! Así de sopetón los de Montreal anoche pusieron a la venta en su concierto en Boston su nuevo disco "ALLELUJAH! DON’T BEND! ASCEND!", su primer trabajo en 10 años. El resto de mortales tendremos que esperar a un concierto suyo o al 15 de octubre, fecha en la que Constellation pondrá a la venta el disco. Eso si no se filtra en las próximas horas, claro…
Yep, el vinilo ya suena en casita. Pero para mi lo de The Smiths, como comprenderas, es mucho mas grande.

otro tema recurrente, para mí es un alivio que no vuelvan. Y no porque no me molen, sino porque hay grupos cuya aura depende entre muchas cosas en quedarse en ese recuerdo, en la imagen de lo que fueron, y en no joderlo todo ahora. Sucede con los Smiths, pero también con Hüsker Dü, o Minor Threat, o Felt… seguro que entre todos salen más. Me da igual ver a Spiral Stairs viejo, calvo y gordo, a a Mascis más viejo y más gordo (él con pelo, eso que tiene), pero Smiths son un Mozzer delgado, elegante, ambiguo, eternamente joven

Ceramic Dog's BREAD AND ROSES
To commemorate the anniversary of Occupy Wall Street on Sept 17, Marc & Ceramic Dog are releasing their new version of "Bread and Roses". This song will be featured on their upcoming sophomore release, due out in 2013 and mixed by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier. It is available for a limited time free download. Special thanks to Keefus Ciancia for added samples.
"Bread and Roses is an old labor song," comments Ribot, "associated with the IWW Lawrence Massachusetts textile worker's strike of 1912. The lyrics are based on a poem written by James Oppenheimer. We changed the music, and a few of the lyrics (we figured anarcho/syndicalists wouldn't mind), but the sentiments are the same. When I went to the big demonstration in Foley Square last fall, I saw something different. On TV, labor union people are supposed to hate the kind of young smart-asses who started Occupy, yet here they seemed to be getting along just fine. I felt, for a moment, 'wow, something could actually happen.' I hadn't felt that in quite some time. The other Ceramic Doggies had similar experiences. Then we went on tour, and somehow it felt silly to play our usual set while so much was happening on the street - so we played "Bread and Roses" instead. We don't know what the future holds, but we recorded this tune in honor of the energy of that moment."
