The Drift - Memory Drawings (Temporary Residence, 2008)
@1rdk0ur2:
In the nearly three-year gap between their debut album, Noumena, and this follow-up, The Drift have toured extensively throughout North America and Japan. All that tripping did wonders for their songwriting process, inspiring an efficiency with their structures while maintaining the intoxicating song lengths they are known for. Though the music on Memory Drawings is familiar, there is a depth to both the performance and production that feels new all over again. Recorded directly to analog tape with longtime producer Jay Pellicci at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco, the mix is used as another instrument to help shape each song, channeling the mythos of late 60s jazz and late 70s dub classics. As The Drift have narrowed their focus, they have expanded their influences. Nowhere is this more obvious than "Uncanny Valley," with its shades of Afro-beat and disco-soul; or the dramatic, deserted ballad "Lands End." With Memory Drawings, they have truly found their groove - and the deeper they dig, the more curious we become.

Thomas Function - Celebration [Alive Records 2008]
@1rdk0ur2:
Debut CD with 13 songs. There was a time, in the '70's and '80's, when regional America threw up amazing rock 'n' roll bands every few months. Akron, Detroit, Seattle, Boston, Washington DC, Chappell Hill, Memphis, Dallas, the country kept turning out wayward visionaries, grounded in rock 'n' roll but telling singular stories. In the 21st century, media-watchers keep telling us we're becoming more and more alike. They are completely wrong, of course, and here's the latest piece of evidence. Thomas Function love punk rock, but they love country, blues, new wave, garage rock, and the shit happening up the street, too. It comes out sounding like a bunch of earnest, severe songs from the foothills of Huntsville, Alabama, full of anger, clarity, and bourbon. Is America on the brink of a new rock 'n' roll renaissance? People who snapped up their instantly OOP singles, saw one of their chaotic shows, or participated in the fervid blogging about this bunch aren't betting against it.

GraciasSi lo de M83 es de traca
Van a estar en todas las listas de fin de año. Peor disco, peor portada, jaja -
El de The B-52s ha sido baneado. Snif…
-

Matmos - Supreme Balloon
http://www.mediafire.com/?3xfdnpdmmdj@15ies13n:
The new album from Matmos finds the dynamic duo taking a holiday from conceptual responsibility, skipping the outré sampling antics in favor of a lighthearted "cosmic pop" record made entirely out of synthesizers. Leave it to Matmos to invent a hard and fast rule that they have to follow even when they're just having fun: the creative restriction this time around is that Supreme Balloon is an ALL synthesizer album and no microphones were used at any point.
That's right, no household objects played in a percussive manner, no snails or blood or amplified semen, no acoustic instruments, no voices of famous people for five seconds, not even any half-way cheating with Vocoders, just synthesizers of all shapes, sizes, eras and nationalities being snipped, folded and reshuffled by an arsenal of samplers and computers into colorful sound-origami.

Death In June - The Rule of Thirds
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=hkjto72x
@2x4w0lp0:NER/NERUS, in association with Soleilmoon, is proud to announce the first new Death In June studio album in more than three years. The CD is presented in an embossed softpak with 16 page lyric book. The double 10 inch vinyl edition comes in two versions: An edition of 1500 copies in black vinyl, and a very limited edition of 500 picture discs. Both are packaged in an embossed gatefold sleeve with a large fold-out poster with lyrics and photo. From Autumnal to Vernal Equinox, this is the Death In June Winter tree. Stripped bare, but for thirteen of its branches. But they are as strong as ever, and with thirteen glasses and one last toast, this new album captures the true essence of Death In June, again setting new standards in its self-created genre. Let the Blackbirds kiss you and may The Rule Of Thirds dictate your life.
