Siguiendo la linea de este topic, os traspaso un grupo que esta semana ha tenido una reseña en el Culturas de La Vanguardia. Se llaman como una banda sesentera que Maurici pudo ver: Downliners Sekt.

Me estoy descargando el disco de su propia web porque esta gente funciona así: no venden nada, todo lo regalan y solo esperan una donación a cambio. Rollo Radiohead pero sin darte el tocomocho. Vale la pena su respuesta sobre esto:

Hmmm…. Well not really. Its quite frustrating when people tell us 'Cool! Like Radiohead!'. It seems those guys turned themselves into free music scene leaders within 3 months, making more money than any fuck wit on a major label.
Since our first release we offered the option to download the album for free or donate what one thought was worth paying. That was 3 years ago, and we weren't the first ones.
Mr Radiohead turns up with his cool new idea and his 160 fucking kbps and the world bows to his mediocrity. This is how they hijacked for their own sake a social phenomenon and turned it into a marketing tool to promote their physical release.
Because of the low quality of the files, the lack of artwork and credits, and huge difference between the mixes of the free release and the commercial one, we quickly assumed they didn't take the radical path.
Radiohead becomes number one on the bestselling charts, and the industry wins another battle in its propaganda devaluing the quality of mp3 releases.

Han sacado su segundo LP en febrero, se llama "The Saltire Web" y está disponible para descarga a 320kbps en la web. Como curiosidad, fue mezclado en Barcelona. Respecto al estilo, solo puedo pegar lo que dicen en su myspace: under (grounded) after-postrock-bitcrushed electronoise (for breakbeat initiates).

Yo no sé si la promoción es buena o no, sobre todo porque toca mucho los huevos bajarte un disco que no es, pero todo el mundo sabe ya quienes son. Para bien o para mal.

VV.AA. - Living Bridge Compilation (2008)

Producer and former musician Nicolas Vernhes, owner of Rare Book Room Studio in Brooklyn, NY, has created a compilation as beautiful as it is strange. The two-disc Living Bridge is the first release by Vernhes’ fledgling record label Rare Book Room Records, and all of the music, except for the Silver Jews’ brilliant “Self Ignition,” was recorded specifically for this compilation.

A first time compilation that includes two CDs may seem like a bit much, even a tad ambitious, but all 25 of these rare and unreleased tracks are breathtaking in their guttural howls, whispers, and transitions from lovely, lilting music to crashing drums and thumping bass. Some of the stand out tracks include “I’m your Eagle Kisser” by Avey Tare, a member of the insane and wonderful band Animal Collective, and Deerhunter’s “After Class.” And Charles Gansa’s beautiful “Charlene” is worth the price of the album alone. If you are at all interested in music that is in no way conventional, boring, or safe, I suggest giving the Living Bridge compilation a long and detailed listen.
