    Yo me puedo meter tanto con droneros como con luminosos (menos el culo de coco, claro), lo que pasa es que me gusta meterme con koan, pero nos ha salido sensible el chico, y no me deja.

    Islands - Arm's Way (Anti-, 2008)

    @2t1iajyi:

    Islands' Anti- Records debut Arm's Way finds the young, critically-acclaimed Montreal sextet heading in a surprising new direction. Their 2006 release, Return to the Sea, was heralded as a stunning work of impulsive outbursts and emotional explorations. Arm's Way sees the band naturally evolving to a more lavish, yet centered, sound that showcases songwriter Nick Thorburn's astounding talent. Prefix Magazine has called him "an extraordinary songwriter." With Ryan Hadlock (Blonde Redhead, Stephen Malkmus) as co-producer, Island's Arm's Way opens the door to a sprawling symphonic world that fans and critics have been looking for.

    VV.AA. - Living Bridge Compilation (2008)

    @2t1iajyi:

    Producer and former musician Nicolas Vernhes, owner of Rare Book Room Studio in Brooklyn, NY, has created a compilation as beautiful as it is strange. The two-disc Living Bridge is the first release by Vernhes’ fledgling record label Rare Book Room Records, and all of the music, except for the Silver Jews’ brilliant “Self Ignition,” was recorded specifically for this compilation.

    A first time compilation that includes two CDs may seem like a bit much, even a tad ambitious, but all 25 of these rare and unreleased tracks are breathtaking in their guttural howls, whispers, and transitions from lovely, lilting music to crashing drums and thumping bass. Some of the stand out tracks include “I’m your Eagle Kisser” by Avey Tare, a member of the insane and wonderful band Animal Collective, and Deerhunter’s “After Class.” And Charles Gansa’s beautiful “Charlene” is worth the price of the album alone. If you are at all interested in music that is in no way conventional, boring, or safe, I suggest giving the Living Bridge compilation a long and detailed listen.

    Tracklist:
    Living Bridge disc one:

    01 Avey Tare: "I'm Your Eagle Kisser"
    02 Telepathe: "I Can't Stand It"
    03 Palms: "Der Keoning"
    04 Black Dice: "Pigpen"
    05 Tara Jane O'Neil: "Sunday Song"
    06 Samara Lubelski: "Ego Blossoms"
    07 Blood on the Wall: "Lightning Song"
    08 Silver Jews: "Self Ignition"
    09 Charles Gansa: "Charlene"
    10 The Naysayer: "The Shell"
    11 TK Webb: "The Devil's a Dork (The Sea Told Me)"
    12 Lia Ices: "Reason in Remain"

    Living Bridge disc two:

    01 Theo Angell: "Byegone"
    02 Rings (formerly First Nation): "RIPEace"
    03 Deerhunter: "After Class"
    04 Enon: "Ashish"
    05 Fischerspooner: "Amuse Bouche"
    06 John Wolfington: "Grace"
    07 La Lus: "Contendo"

    Xela/Ajilvsga - I Love Her Till I Die C44 [Digitalis Limited 2008]

    @z3h3ezlx:

    the melding of minds between xela and ajilvsga first began in may 2007 in los angeles at the bottling smoke festival. the first stirrings were the opening night as sea zombies (then: john twells, brad rose, gregg kowalsky, jefre cantu-ledesma, & jed bindeman) blew down the walls like a wicked fucken wolf. but the wolf went into hibernation. so now, in preparation for the spring awakening comes this split, shoving these two megaliths back together.

    xela is in rare form, offering up a twisted, demented heartbreaker. j.p. twells twists his voice into every corner, eliminating all the light from the room with enchanted, desiccated wails. analog hints are dropped along the way, pushed through tunnels of reverb and echo until they're barely recognizable. it's the journey, son, and it's all in your mind.

    ajilvsga, on the other hand, sends up an enchanted bones omen. chaotic electronics fizzle and flap their wings like a burning phoenix scorched underneath the blackest sun. this ode to the last of the morning star virgins, "haxti" is at times peaceful and hopeful, but just around the corner lurks something far more sinister, far more blown-out. limited to 99 handnumbered copies, packaged in full-color prints w/ yellow tapes.

    Gracias mil, excelente disco. No sé si Morphine también serán tan sinusosos y elegantes, y tendrán un saxo tan afrodisíaco, pero me han entrado ganas de escuchar algo de ellos
