No parecen ellos..., mucha percusion...pero mooola.

Pues como siga esta linea el disco se lo pueden meter por el … no me ha gustado nada, para mi pierden toda la esencia de sigur ros (que te puede gustar mas o menos) pero me ha sonado como un grupo más y del montón, no me ha dicho absolutamente nada... cosa que no me había pasado nunca escuchando por primera vez algo nuevo de ellos... a lo mejor será que no tengo el día, pero lo dudo, la piel de gallina nunca falla

A mí me ha molado, tanto el tema como el video.

No. Acabo de llegar a casa, estoy deshaciendo la maleta y leyendo por encima lo que se ha comentado, aunque me voy a ir a la cama en breve. No puedo más :S

Esta noche nos hemos encontrado con el colectivo animal en el aeropuerto, su vuelo salía 1 hora más tarde que el nuestro y me han firmado unos LPs, jaja

As with this week's excellent Ateleia & Benjamin Curtis LP, this beautiful Table Of The Elements LP comes on single-sided clear vinyl with a Savage Pencil etching on the flip. It's just as good as its counterpart too: as suggested by the title, the side-long piece piles on an armoury of guitars, accumulating a huge amount of sonic density, but never in an oppressive way. Instead the melding of electric and acoustic tones create a huge, warm network of sonorities, consolidating this band's position as one of the most accessible, conventionally musical acts on the Table Of The Elements roster, and that's certainly not a back-handed compliment: seldom has such protracted droning minimalism sounded so easy on the ears.

En realidad estos suecos no habian pensado en grabar solo un single, pero despues de la acogida del mismo se lanzaron a por este EP, grabando en el sello discográfico "labrador" toda una garantia.

BURNING STAR CORE - Challenger (2008)

Following on from last year's superb double header of Blood Lightning 2007 and Operator Dead… Post Abandoned C. Spencer Yeh returns with yet more essential solo disclosures, and he's sounding more approachable than ever. Challenger begins with a melancholy, slightly ambiguous sequence of tones, which eventually find themselves intruded upon by some abrupt field recorded sounds. As a second track, 'Beauty Hunter' makes a more fiery, more familiar clamour, distorting and morphing what you'd presume to be Yeh's violin. It's in the album's quieter moments that things get really interesting: I genuinely have no idea what's going on to make the odd, ambient clacking that is 'No Memories, No Plans', and the strange organs and mechanisms behind 'Un Coeur En Hiver' make for a strangely emotive, magical mixture of sonic upsets. Perhaps best of all, 'Mezzo Forte' is probably one of the weirder things you'll get to hear this week. It starts off with some truly bizarre vocal layering and manipulation, before simple, quite stately piano chords set out an intro to something that never quite happens, and waves of kinetic, frenzied noise gets piled on... it's all very odd, but utterly magnificent stuff.

It's been a real joy to see the Mego/Editions Mego empire going from strength to strength in recent months. It wasn't too long since the original Mego label lay dormant; once a colossus within the European avant-garde community and one of the key institutions in the shaping of how we define modern computer music, only to suddenly vanish. Well, the label has since been reborn and currently enjoys a blistering display of form. This mini LP underlines that perfectly, bringing together contemporary innovators Florian Hecker, Russell Haswell and Mika Vainio for a look back at the pioneering ambient works of Popol Vuh, one of the great bands of the krautrock era and regular collaborators with filmmaker Werner Herzog. Excerpts from their soundtrack to Aguirre, The Wrath Of God are used in the Haswell & Hecker re-composition featured here, which finds the synthetic choral ambience of the 1972 original respectfully warped and devoured by the advanced machinations of these two titans in the field of cutting edge electronics. Plumes of digital tone rupture the warmth and surface tension established by the source material, arcing and pitchshifting with extravagant, fluid trajectories, and ultimately casting a beautiful algorithmic scrawl over the original. Mika Vainio's reworking of 'Nachts: Schnee' is equally successful, distilling a profound, frost-coated ambience reminiscent of the auditory deep-freeze of Thomas Koner's chilliest productions. Vainio's subtle, textured modulations sculpt some sort of narrative order, but without sabotaging the overwhelming sense of stillness that presides over the composition. Two indispensable sides of bright red vinyl, all but guaranteed to bewitch any follower of experimental electronic music, both old and new. A massive recommendation.

Stephen O'Malley - Salt [cd, Ideal, 2008]

SALT is the audion component created for "Bleed", the initial collaboration between sculptor Banks Violette and musician Stephen O'Malley. First shown at Barbara Gladstone Gallery, NYC summer 2005 "Bleed" was part of the group show "Bridge Freezes Before Road", curated by Neville Wakefield, and was the first of five collaborations between the two artists. A quite moderate audio setup created some of the ongoing themes between the audio and physical work; sound pressure in relation to insubstantial mass, standing wave play, sense of space created by air pressure, and modifications of said space in relation to physical sculptural work.

Long playback loops of acoustic guitar and bass sine wave sparsely moved to the ear on it's own, but was designed to instead suggest modulation and border to the viewer/listener through their movement around and in relation to the work itself.

Subsequently the piece was acquired by The Guggenheim Museum and remains in their collection in NYC. "Bleed" also reemerged in summer 2007 as part of the "The Shapes of Space" show at said space.
