Absolutamente de acuerdo con el calificativo de esta descripción, los reyes del folk lo-fi. Casi se me escapa este nuevo trabajo porque se han cambiado el nombre. Si hasta ahora se llamaban Woods (tambien en Meneguar y Sheperds) y el año pasado entregaban el genial At Rear House, ahora añaden un nuevo miembro y se hacen llamar Woods Family Creeps. Y si ya son lo-fi de por si imaginaos en una edicón limitada a 300.

This time Woods make room for one more in their tent, expanding to a trio in the form of Woods Family Creeps. Still riding the bedroom vibe high, the band are the current kings of lo-fi. Constantly on the balance of din and pop, when the tempos are pushed a bit into pop territory some brief and shining moments emerge but just as you settle in the melodies evaporate into the night. But the thing about Woods is that when those beautiful moments elevate themselves out of the pots and pans percussion and close mic-ed 4 a.m. clatter, they are some of the most heartfelt moments being laid to tape around. This time though WFC is hoisting the psych flag high. The burn of tape-hiss and detuned excursions into dusk-dawn fever swirl around the scattershot catchiness, shifting like moments of lucidity in dream. Damn fine stuff if you ask me.

Ole, que temÃ³n el "Twisted Tongue" de los Woods Family Creeps!!,
el disco entero va por otros caminos, Psycodelia, Freak folk, pero este, un tema de pop lo-fi en MayÃºsculas! a marniello y pekh seguro que les gusta el tema, jeje (no es ironÃa)

Mira Pelukini, por una vez (y no te acostumes) te voy a dar la razón. Twisted Tongue es un temazo, y el disco no está mal, aunque es cierto que en algunos pasajes se pierden un poco. Me bajaré el anterior que habeis colgado para comparar.

jajaja, a ver es que coÃ±o que tampoco creo que tenga tan mal gusto!, que parece que me coma toda la mierda que sale, lo que pasa es que soy un poco jackster (en el sentido que abarco muchos estilos) y a vosotros nos va un pelo los drones, paisajes ni el postrooÃ³, pero a ver que recuerdo que contigo, marniello tenemos compatibilidad Alta, o eso dice el last,fm, JAJAJA

El día que postee el EP me di cuenta a los pocos minutos de que era la demo, edité y lo cambié sin decir nada poniendo un enlace al EP en su lugar. Creí que nadie lo habría bajado (creo que era de noche).

Así que lo que está posteado debería ser el EP, no se si te habrías bajado el otro enlace que puse al principio y de ahí la confusión, o no se si al final hice todo mal y volvi a poner la demo.

Bueno, quien tenga curiosidad que se lo baje todo xD**

Lo peor es que el enlace que he puesto ahora tampoco se seguro si son el EP y la demo o el EP y el disco, jaja.

Lo siento, si que es un lio esto. Si no es la demo prometo subirla mañana, ahora me voy que mañana tengo examen

Edito: Pues nada, que lo de arriba es el disco y el EP. Suitaloon si puedes sube tu la demo que yo me tengo que ir, si no puedes lo hago yo mañana cuando vuelva. Siento el lio.

JACK ROSE - Dr Ragtime & Pals / Self Titled (Beatiful happiness, 2008)

This double disc edition of Jack Rose instrumentals features one album you might already be familiar with alongside another that's likely to be new to you. Followers of Rose's oeuvre will no doubt be aware of the guitarist's eponymously titled lap steel opus (as previously released on CD via the Archive label and on vinyl through Tequila Sunrise), but it's a welcome reissue nonetheless, as all previous editions are currently out of print. In addition to that indispensable volume comes Dr Ragtime & Pals, a collaborative album featuring fellow Takoma-ite Glen Jones, Micah Smaldone, Mike Gangloff on banjo, plus Sean Bowles, who takes up that most bluegrass of positions: washboardist. And then there's Harmonica Dan. I forget what it is he plays… This all presents Rose with a new angle on his craft, fusing the kind of grass roots traditionalism of his heritage with an upbeat tone that often encroaches upon out-and-out hoedown. It's unlikely that any introduction is necessary for the self-titled solo album over on the second disc. It's one of the clear highlights in Rose's illustrious recording career, marking his boldest move away from the more rigid aspects of Fahey/Basho fingerpicking traditionalism. As far as sheer fluency goes these songs are about as virtuosic as you could ever hope to imagine, with performances that sound like several different parts all played simultaneously all underscored by the extreme glissando of Rose's distinctive slide technique. Classic stuff.
