    The French Semester - Open Letter to the Disappeared

    http://rapidshare.com/files/154704035/9TFr.rar.html

    @3uhwhccv:

    The French Semester is a fresh, new music extravaganza raised on indie rock anthems, new wave hand clappers, late mod polyphony, and shoegaze technics. Rarely is a band this diverse in origin: India, Mexico, Vietnam, and Europe. Foreign lads in a foreign land, rock and roll gave them a home in a new world where people, goods, and information moved interchangeably. Based out of Los Angeles, the boys eschewed the sequencers and synthesizers of the city’s post punk revival in favor of purer, song-driven arrangements centering on the sharp wording of singer/guitarist Riaz Tejani. Grounded by the northern soul grooves of drummer Charles Maxey and bassist Gil Disloquez, the songs are then carried skyward into dreampop by backing vocalist Bryan Sullivan—whose sparse keyboard riffs bend against the tunes with chilling simplicity. The band has made a sound all their own unconsciously blending influences like Big Star, the Stone Roses, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Pavement, while adding a Third World sensibility that only immigrant kids would; one modern comparison links them to Vampire Weekend, a band they performed with in their early days. But while comparisons are rough, early buzz from DJ’s and fans worldwide has been decisive

  • @RX456:

    "Latest album of devastating emotional transcendence from the Japanese underground's most lyrical singer-songwriter. Full of classic, richly textured songs of love, loss and stunned acquiescence to the wonders of the world. Alongside Tomokawa's regular collaborators Toshiaki Ishizuka and Masato Nagahata, the expanded group also includes Compostela-veteran Takero Sekijima on tuba and recorder, and improv-legend Hiromichi Sakamoto on cello.

    Bad Party - Coming Out Slowly LP [Animal Disguise 2008]

    @3soep5a5:

    This duo though takes a whole 'nother angle, kicking up a serious din of shitty programmed drum machine, huge moaning buzzing bass, yowled snotty vocals and sheets of squealing feedback. Falling somewhere between Big Black, Suicide and the Brainbombs, these two spew stripped down mechanical garage jams, a fuzzed out lo-fi party ruining stomp, minimal and stripped down, but still noisy as fuck, the lyrics nasty and mean and pretty fucking funny, woven into the lurching grooves and the almost new wave bass lines.
    Some tracks get extra murky and grungy, while others sound almost well produced, but even at their cleanest (which is not all that clean at all) the proceedings are still showered in shrieking high end, and that awesome fuck-you caterwaul, you can almost picture these guys shirtless in huge stiletto heels and furs, trashing the stage with just a bass and a crappy old synth, sunglasses, booze and coke, and a cadre of ill behaved hangers on. Bad party indeed. Trashy and noisy and fucked up and fun. As long as it's not your party. Recommended.

    Hunx and his Punx - You Don’t Like Rock N Roll 7″ (2008 - Rob’s House Records)

    @jcg0awk5:

    Hunx from Gravy Train!!!! is back with his second 7″ of the year in YOU DON’T LIKE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL, two catchy fun anthems wrapped in pop punk, soaked in homoeroticism and topped off with a little trash talk. This sounds exactly like a Nobunny clone, though the songs are really good. OH, not to mention the scratch off cover that has the whole world hesistant to find out what’s behind the grey box of potential full monty. I want more of this stuff!

  • B R OAD WAY: Enter The Automaton (2008)

    http://rapidshare.com/files/127314145/BROWEnThAut.rar.html

    http://www.myspace.com/broadway6am

    After the “vertiginous adventure” of the side-project The John Venture, that is to say the improbable meeting between “the postmodern folk of Angil and the hybrid electronica of B R OAD WAY”, which is concretized by an album éponyme (left in October 2006) acclaimed by the press (Inrockuptibles, France Inter, Arte, Magic, etc) and a round of more than thirty dates (in France, Switzerland and Italy with Sole, Jel, El-P, Emilie Simon, Beat Attacking etc), the quartet inhabitant of Saint-Etienne B R OAD WAY found the road of the studio to deliver to us Enter The Automaton, its second album. Succeeding very ambient the 06:06 amndt (left in June 2005), Enter The Automaton marks an unquestionable turn for B R OAD WAY which one very strongly guesses that l' experiment John Venture them insensitive not left aces… Of B R OAD WAY indeed, one kept all at the head the memory d' a group flirtant with l' electronica of Boards off Canada, where the machines remained the keystone of this construction at the same time fragile and stable, with melodies, certainly, but very seldom with the first rank… a vision the pop one with l' school of My Bloody Valentine to some extent… While entering their automat, one (Re) discovers a group, in the true direction of the term, where the machines yield a little the place qu' they occupied before, with the profit of the song, the piano, the guitars or of the double bass. C' is a little like if our principal influence, which remains the pop music, took again the top, while not disavowing at all our cinematographic universe and the tracks but l' one had traversed on 06:06 amndt, entrusts Jan to us, which is with l' origin of the bases of composition of the group. It is true qu' with l' listen of Enter the Automaton, one is vis-a-vis an album which could find its place in l' Anticon stable, while finding an influence of groups like Velvet Underground, Radiohead or Sigur Ros… Its universe alternates between a side intimist and melancholic person (“Automatons”, “Letters in Hearts”), and a more frontal and energetic aspect (“Stop Motion”, “High Treason”). As for the video, realized by Vj Raize, if it remains faithful to the spirit 06:06 amndt, it follows also and quite naturally l' evolution of the three musicians, concretizing itself, in particular, by l' integration of the color and a more rhythmic play, precipitating the listener in an alternation of various, varied and marked feelings, of l' euphoria with the melancholy… Faithful to their cinematographic universe developed on 06:06 amndt while making a broader place with their pop influences (acoustic instruments, song), the members of B R OAD WAY agrees to us, with Enter the Automaton, with a new odyssey on still unexplored grounds. Let us guarantee that following the example The John Venture, this voyage will not leave you unscathed…

    esto dicen de ellos, yo os digo que es un discazo!!! Acompaña muy bien en el iPod por la mañana…
