The Boat People - Chandeliers (2008)

http://rapidshare.com/files/157365329/The_Boat_People_-_Chandeliers_-_2008.rar@341kmqov:
“Chandeliers is an undeniably brilliant, rich and honest pop record. Every inch of catchiness is matched and even occasionally exceeded by a clever lyric or a fitting guitar riff. Every cute and bright coloured flash is contrasted by a bittersweet poetic sentence or sharp tempo change. The Boat People are not only cleverer than the average 'indie pop' group but are also a lot more consistent. Each song carries it's own weight, yet at the same time this album feels like a single body of work. To be so pop-focused and still give off such a strong feeling of artistic freedom is extremely rare.”

The Twilight Sad - Killed My Parents And Hit The Road

http://rapidshare.com/files/162296818/TTSKMPAHTR_Vic.zip@20gll8q4:
With their dates in support of Mogwai starting tonight (October 27), the Twilight Sad have made the gigs more enticing by bringing along a new, limited edition release called The Twilight Sad Killed My Parents and Hit the Road.
The record collects instrumentals, live tracks, and covers, some of which are previously unreleased. Those covers include songs originally by the Smiths, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and, surprise surprise, Joy Division.
Speaking of covers, the one adorning Killed My Parents– pictured above-- parodies Raymond Pettibon's iconic artwork for Sonic Youth's Goo. Who knew these guys had a sense of humor?
1. Walking for Two Hours (live)
2. That Summer, At Home I Had Become the Invisible Boy (live)
3. Untitled 28
4. Cold Days from the Birdhouse (live)
5. And She Would Darken the Memory (live)
6. Twenty Four Hours (Joy Division cover)
7. The Weath-er is Bad (from the short film Brilliant Noise)
8. Half a Person (The Smiths cover)
9. Untitled 27
10. Modern Romance (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover)
11. I Was Hoping Winter Was Over -

Eric Copeland - Alien in a Garbage Dump
www.mediafire.com/?j5mnmdgjnn2
@wi3dtmjm:
Taking off where his last record, "Hermaphrodite" left off, these seven jams are steeped in modern media overload; dense, often fragmented blasts of ideas and sounds, representative of a half hour of prime-time TV (or something like that). This is overloaded, over-processed, overdosed music rooted in public sounds, but is somehow a giant leap from any fashion dominating the public mind. Limited edition vinyl-only pressing. Look for an Eric Copeland and Black Dice full-length in 2009.
@wi3dtmjm:
Sometimes a song's title can tell you something. Case in point is the title track from the Alien in a Garbage Dump vinyl-only EP by Black Dice member Eric Copeland. As heard on his record last year, Hermaphrodite, Copeland is something of a sonic dumpster diver, finding weird bits of sonic detritus and then slapping them together into collages that can be both creepy and funny. Compared to where Black Dice has been with the last few records, Copeland seems to be in a comparatively maximalist state of mind, never finding any virtual audio tape that he didn't want to saturate with noise. He's also making music that seems to me a touch more pop and easier to latch onto on the first spin. "Alien in a Garbage Dump" begins with huge amounts of clatter and a sampled voice imploring "Just don't do it" in a never-ending loop that could be a cousin to the "Come out to show them" bit used in Steve Reich's "Come Out" all those years ago. It works through myriad small variations to the pulse of a bass hit, and then it comes out on the other side, squinting into the bright light of a for-real tune. Over "La Bamba"/"Like a Rolling Stone" guitar chords, a loose and melodic guitar solo brings things home. Ah, the wonders of contrast; you can find some pretty cool shit in a landfill.

Daniel Ledwell - Two Over Seven (2008)

http://rapidshare.com/files/162090550/DL2O7_Vic.zip@192zcwm9:
Normally known for his charming keyboard contributions to the Halifax quartet In-Flight Safety (IFS), Daniel Ledwell is making a name for himself going solo. In his first departure from IFS, Ledwell unites simplistic country-folk melodies and hushed vocals to produce the seven heartbreaking, indie-infused tracks on Two Over Seven. Released on the same label as IFS, Ledwell sticks to Dead Daisy Record’s DIY motto by playing and recording the entire mini-orchestra of instruments on his condensed album. Besides obvious guitar contributions, Ledwell supplements his freshman project with cello, keyboards, trumpet, lap steel, banjo and glockenspiel. The blended sound carries his melodies forward, keeping alt-country influences identifiable while remaining inventive with his craft. This delicately fashioned album provides a melancholy yet hopeful soundtrack for the peaks and valleys of the heart.

Dejo este por aquí por si el Pelukas aún no le hincado el diente y ahora me pongo con lo de Elephant 6.
Ulaan Khol - II [2008/Soft Abuse]
@tjisj67v:
ll heavy with warmth & mystery, Ulaan Khol returns with another round of vertical incantations aimed at the heavens. As Ulaan Khol, Steven R. Smith (Hala Strana, Thuja, Mirza) creates dense tapestries that revel in the eternal and infinite. The bursts of tones & grip on formal structures can compare to the best of Hototogisu or Handful of Dust, though filtered through an ample dose of Ash Ra Tempel.
Supreme while discreet, these songs carry a sense of unnerving calm and optimistic gloom, often within a single composition. Swaths of heavy feedback cascade against sinister organ workouts & varied percussion that’s at times pounding, and at others distant. Throughout, Smith’s works emerge as vessels of possibility, exploratory rituals of hope.
Under the Ulaan Khol banner, Smith has planned a maximalist three-part suite, 'Ceremony.' Following the cryptic first installment, II shines with hazy, rolling atmospheric works that drift and shift with ease. Riding a crumbling riff into oblivion, Ulaan Khol's II emanates with the gleam of pure white light.

Omar Rodríguez-López - Old Money

http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=6ULEPMIM@3lxquil7:
Omar Rodriguez Lopez's Old Money is the first album that The Mars Volta guitarist/producer/writer/arranger will release with Stones Throw Records. The addictive melodies and passionate execution of each performance render Old Money perhaps the most accessible of his non-Volta recordings, and the perfect entry point to anyone not yet familiar with what this prolific artist has to offer.
