    LORN – “None An Island” (Brainfeeder, 2010)

    Out 13th September 2010.

    Lorn aka Marcos Ortega returns with a new EP from his critically acclaimed debut album, “Nothing Else.”

    One of the standout tracks from a breakthrough record, “None An Island” combines Lorn’s trademark overt emotionalism, brutality and bleakness into something transcendentally beautiful. Brainfeeder labelmate Samiyam then takes “Brainwaves” and converts it into a lowriding, limping journey into paranoia and fear. Lorn ups the ante yet again by returning with two new original tracks, “Never Enough,” which uses a distorted, rasping, alien voice to syncopate its rhythms, and “Until There Is No End,” which shows that Ortega’s grasp of melody is never compromised by the sheer heaviness of his tracks.

    A fantastic accompaniment to his album and a further delving into his sound, “None An Island” strongly suggests we’ll be hearing much more from Lorn for a long time to come…

    El Demode es un muy buen sitio para tomar unas copas y echar unos bailes. Además es gratis. Por otro lado, yo casi siempre que voy a Barcelona voy al Apolo (mi hermano vive al lado) y gran parte de las veces hay cosillas interesantes.

    A mi eso de ir a ver artistas no me vale,por ejemplo, yo no vuelvo a pisar el razzmatazz aunque vayan una noche mis artistas favoritos porque esta sucio, mal iluminado, suena a culo y es Superincomodo. además que es muy probable que el día anterior estuvisien allí artistas que detesto, eso si con el mismo publico mendrugo silbando y dando palmas

    Si traer a personal de Detroit es más barato que nunca, a qué esperáis para montar fiestas Detroit 25th Anniversary? Me juego una cena contigo en el Botafumeiro a que Nitsa se llena. No sé, un fin de semana UR con Carl Craig + Mike Banks live, con ese teclado ácido, Kenny Larkin metiendo una buena horita de vinilazos y Saunderson cerrando sería antológico. Y al otro Model 500 + Galaxy 2 Galaxy, así tal cual.

    Me juego un testículo, a que este 2011 el Sónar dedicará una retrospectiva a la Motor City y Chicago…

    no sé si alguien lo mencionó por aquí o si leí sobre él en FACT o qué, pero vaya discazal que ha sacado Pariah en R&S. después del de James Blake estaba difícil, pero vaya torpedo. psicodelia, petardazos a la Joy Orbison, 2 step..también hay peña que lo compara con Drexciya. muy bueno, vaya.
    en la línea me hace mucha ilusión lo que vaya sacar Deadboy este año
