Commitments, the debut LP from Melbourne-based interdisciplinary artist Trent Gill, draws on the looseness of modern beat music with its wild swinging rhythms and stylistic collage. Recorded in a flurry over a brief six-week period, the hypnotic melodies and psychedelic feel document the intensity of the moment, striking hard at the heartstrings. There is a roughness to the compositions, a nod to the DIY process they were created through, occupying that place on the precipice between chaos and beauty. Handmade instruments and kitchen sink percussion layer over one-take electronics and non-looped drum patterns. All the while delicate vocals tell the unfolding story, punctuating grooves and sign-posting the multi-linear narrative.

I have been releasing a few vinyl only singles over the last year or so and this album called Pink brings together those tracks. It will be released on the 20th August as a digital release on my Text label and there will also be a CD release in Japan through Hostess Entertainment on the 22nd August. Two of the tracks, Lion and Peace For Earth, have not been released on vinyl yet but I plan to make that happen one day.

Citing Mo Wax and Anime as influences you can see how Not Not Fun were wowed by Afterhours' sultry electronics - this is music as indebted to Vangelis and Jean Michelle Jarre as it is 80s pop, industrial and Blech-era Warp bleeps. While title track 'Sleepwalker' is firmly in Blade Runner territory, the highlight comes with 'Salt on the Wound', a low-slung number that manages to sound equal parts 1994 Aphex Twin and Evian Christ.

Gracias por el de Mulero, una vez escuchado con detenimiento, me reafirmo, es un discazo, para los amantes del techno oscuro y comeollas, como por ejemplo Manel, no os dejeís llevar por prejuicios, lo vais a disfrutar.

Vamos allá. De Mulero no tengo una opinión formada, o sea que asisto virgen al encuentro.
El otro dia estuve escuchando otro gran disco de tecno ambient comeollas oscuro del que ya se habló pero que -what the hell- vamos a desempolvar otra vez. Se trata del de Voices From The Lake
