Jon Hopkins – Immunity (2013)

@2ww44z3u:
For composer, remixer, producer, prolific collab- orator and multi-instrumentalist Jon Hopkins, sound is a three-dimensional medium: It billows out in every direction, mixing artful throbs and animalistic thrusts that can be felt under the skin.
But as driving as his beats can be — and on his new album Immunity, they’re plenty driving — Hopkins retains a gift for tear-jerking melody that takes an expressway to the listener’s emotions.
Hopkins’ gift for warm textures helped make a masterpiece of Diamond Mine, his 2011 collaboration with Scottish singer King Creosote; he used largely organic instrumentation to help paint an audio portrait of a coastal town full of dreamers and lost souls. Two of Immunity’s eight songs — the 10-minute title track, featuring an ethereal guest vocal from Creosote, and the gorgeous “Abandon Window” — carry on in Diamond Mine’s plaintively lovely tradition, while Immunity’s remainder is given over to intense dance music that thumps and wobbles with insistence, aggression and grace.
For those who strongly favor one approach to the other, the juxtaposition can be jarring; Immunity is intended to mirror the feel of a night out, and it captures both highs and lows. But in Hopkins’ living, breathing world of sound, beauty and beats are always free to commingle in ways that move, in every sense of the word.http://uploaded.net/file/ehorrwtqhttp://cloudzer.net/file/eisyr0tc -
Xander Harris – Snow Crash (Desire Records / 2013)

@lff95uoc:
Desire and New York’s Mishka corporation key into your darkest cybernetic fantasies with this ace from NNF and 100% Silk’s Xander Harris. ‘Snow Crash’ is an imagined soundtrack to Neil Stevenson’s classic and prescient cyberpunk novel of the same title – a dystopian prediction of “high functioning internet, avatar representation, global connectivity… anarchism, widespread violent gangs, and language viruses.” Harris executes the task with robust production and poignant effect. And while his palette is perhaps a little too rooted in ’80s drums machines and synth nodding to classic Vangelis for a novel written in the ’90s, its seductive sci-fi appeal is clear and vivid, from the adrenalizing NRG of ‘Cosanostra Pizza Delivery’ to the rocking industrial drums and red-light sector synths of ‘Bios’ or the furtive meta-mindspace of ‘Eridu’.

Alguien más ha escuchado la audición online del nuevo disco de BoC? MADRE MIA!

Es muy clasicote. En ocasiones me recuerda a las bandas sonoras de Stephane Picq para juegos de Cryo.

Gold Panda – Half of Where You Live (Ghostly International / 2013)

@88waaaap:
Mellow house and ornate, shimmering techno from Gold Panda on his sophomore LP. Fans of Caribou and Four Tet will find much to love in the generously melodic, intricately constructed 4/4 grooves the London-based producer puts on display, embroidered with samples and imbued with an organic, everything-is-alright essence that seems to make sense with summer (supposedly) on the way. We run the gamut from the supple minimal of ‘Brazil’ and more jaggedly programmed house swing of ‘An English House’ through to the chiming, circadian ambient of ‘My Father In Hong Kong’ and downtempo sunset of ‘Reprise’, the mood always wistful but never less than optimistic.
