Josh Ritter - The Golden Age Of Radio (2009)

We are very excited to announce to our fans that Josh's acclaimed album Golden Age of Radio has been re-issued in glorious Deluxe Edition style, which features a bonus disc containing each song recently re-recorded by Josh, solo acoustic, exclusively for this release! We had a lot of fun putting this together and think our fans will be thrilled with the finished product.

      DELUXE EDITION FEATURES

      • Bonus CD of Josh performing the entire album, solo acoustic. Recorded exclusively for the re-issue in Nashville, June 2008

      • Full color booklet with lyrics and never-seen-before photos from the original album's era of writing and recording

      • Introduction Essay by filmmaker Cameron Crowe

      • 4 non-album tracks (b-sides and remixes)

      • 2 homemade music videos, including "Me & Jiggs" by Glen Hansard

      • The full original studio album (of course)

      A NOTE FROM JOSH

"We were coming back from Philadelphia. It was two in the morning and it had to be eighty degrees. I had a temp job in the morning. Darius had a real job in Boston and Zack was due back in class the next day. Ahead of us somewhere on the George Washington Bridge, somebody was deciding whether or not to jump. We'd finished Golden Age of Radio that day, laying down the final tracks that same night, and we were all very tired.

The first time I heard a song of mine on the radio, it was 'Me and Jiggs.' The first time I heard someone else sing my song, it was 'Come and Find Me.' This record was the one that gave me my first peek at the possibilities of a life writing and playing music. I am indebted to those who have chosen to share in those possibilities with me."

                Aiyekooto And His Afrobeat International-Unrelease

Nigerian Aiyekooto combines enchanting afrobeat with older Ghana-born genres of highlife and funky. Living in Helsinki since 2005, he has surrounded himself with the impressive Afrobeat International band, consisting of renowned rhythm musicians. Before coming to Finland the band’s leader Babatunde Akerele composed, wrote lyrics and arranged his 70’s afro sound in Lagos, Nigeria.
Aiyekooto & His Afrobeat International were chosen the best band of 2007 at the Funk Awards gala in February. The 20-member band, serving exotic rhythms and positive vibrations, has thrown several energetic and enthusiastic gigs at clubs and festivals around the country. The band is a real dance floor filler - it’s almost impossible to avoid the urge to dance to their seductive rhythms. When the audience is in the groove, they don’t want to let the band go off stage.

Another unmissable album of crackly, homespun electronica from Helsinkis Hannu, once again released
via the Kesh imprint. Hintergarten twinkles into life with the sound of worn-out, lo-fi glockenspiel recordings
rubbing up against strings and muffled bass samples. In fact, opening track Pop serves as an excellent
refresher course in what makes Hannus music so distinctive and alluring: the sweetest of melodies seem
to collide in a manner that isnt quite fully in tune or in time, sounding all the more lovable for their rundown,
loose-fitting weariness. The albums sound palette is garnished with overspills of vinyl noise, cassette hiss
and the various other side-effects of using battered old recordings for source material. On Theme For
Grant you might hear some parallels with something like Four Tets She Moves She, carving
mismatching string instruments into sparkling spliced together riffs set against a backdrop of shuffling
beats - Hannus music does sound as if it was made a good century or so before Kieren Hebden was even
born though. For all the other records it might bring to mind (the music of Colleen and certain members of
the Fonal camp offering particularly strong parallels) Hintergarten is unique for the continuous state of

                                            Hopewell - Good Good Desperation

If you are wondering where the soul of Mercury Rev went, it may just have
followed former member Jason Russo after his departure from the legendary unit.
Their thick and tasty sound may snare a tonal quality with the grungers, but the band
reign with a pop majesty that glitters over the feedback. Package all this with a stage
presence that gleamed with rocknroll glory and Hopewell arent the heirs, theyre
                                            building the kingdom.
Hopewell's psychedelic pop is visceral and dynamic, yet unstable - meaning you
never know when the noisy bits will suddenly squirm out of a sugary pop cloud that
twists itself inside out, and implodes. A band to keep your earholes tuned to for sure.
