Hopewell - Good Good Desperation

If you are wondering where the soul of Mercury Rev went, it may just have
followed former member Jason Russo after his departure from the legendary unit.
Their thick and tasty sound may snare a tonal quality with the grungers, but the band
reign with a pop majesty that glitters over the feedback. Package all this with a stage
presence that gleamed with rocknroll glory and Hopewell arent the heirs, theyre
building the kingdom.
Hopewell's psychedelic pop is visceral and dynamic, yet unstable - meaning you
never know when the noisy bits will suddenly squirm out of a sugary pop cloud that

Ear Pwr - Super Animal Brothers III

Baltimore duo Ear Pwr., aka Devin Booze and Sarah Reynolds, began their adventures
in the spring of 2005 after Sarah became a fan of Devin's party-punk band, Hide and
Seek. In the summer of 2008, the pair went on their first U.S. tour with friends, Future
Islands, leading the pair to move to Baltimore. Their forthcoming album, Super
Animal Brothers III , will be out on May 19th, via Carpark Records.

and it was mixed by Dan Carey, who also produced 'Tonight…'.
'Blood' has also been available to fans who bought the special edition

new version adds extra song 'Be Afraid'.

Mark Kozelek - Lost Verses

Recorded live during Mark Kozelek’s 2007 and 2008 acoustic tours with Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters guitarist Phil Carney as accompaniment, 'Mark Kozelek: Lost Verses - Live', a 14 song set features songs primarily chosen from the Sun Kil Moon catalog but also includes solo and Red House Painter’s material. The album was recorded in intimate, seated settings such as The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, The Williamsburg Music Hall in Brooklyn, The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and the Aladdin Theatre in Portland, finding Mark at his best, relaxed and interacting with the appreciative audience.

Sally Doherty - Electric Butterfly

"Electric Butterfly" came into being when the unique vocalist
and songwriter Sally Doherty (collaborative members of Shock Headed Peters,
Sieben, Sol Invictus, …) began working with the gifted musician and producer
Colin Elliot. The 50-minute album include guest musicians Richard Hawley
(guitars and vocals), Shez Sheridan (guitars) and Liz Hanks (cello).
The cool left-field pop sound of "Electric Butterfly" reveals glimpses of
Sally's life-long passion for French chanson, South American bolero and
the songs of Jacques Brel and Scott Walker, and her love of incredible singers
such as crazy Peruvian princess Yma Sumac and the smooth
and seductive Chet Baker.

Sublime Frequencies is pleased to present the second volume of Northeast Syrian dabke music from legendary vocalist Omar Souleyman and his group. This CD was compiled by Mark Gergis to coincide with the Sublime Frequencies UK/European tour in May and June of 2009, featuring live performances by Omar Souleyman himself. Culled from dozens of cassettes recorded in Syria from 1999-2008, the music here is an extension of Omar's Highway to Hassake: Folk and Pop Sounds of Syria release, touching on some previously-unheard angles. Their trademark serpentine synthesizers, electrified bouzok (traditional stringed instrument) and driving rhythms forge a severe form of "new wave dabke" with a live energy and integrity that captures the essence of the Syrian Northeast; one-of-a-kind Syrian dabke party tunes, regional atabat-styled crooners, and unbelievable Iraqi party jams. The CD is packaged in a cardboard sleeve with a paper insert.
