  • Gay Witch Abortion - Maverick [Learning Curve Records]

    This duo of Shawn Walker and Jesse Bottemly combine together to puree a gigantic
    rhythemic stew of guitar and drums. If you close your eyes, you might find yourself
    imagining your childhood, putting you fingers in to the ceiling fan, it hurts, but it brings a sense of power and risk.

  • The Curious Mystery - Rotting Slowly [k Records]

    A junkyard band with a heart of dirt, smoke, and wires. This Seattle group blends
    60s-style psychedelia with American country-blues and garage experimentalism.
    Their debut places an emphasis on dense sonic texture and unorthodox song
    structures. It has a vast implied distance and textural tension, canvassing canyons
    and turning tight corners.

    Bellini - The Precious Prize of Gravity [Temporary Residence Limited]

    Recorded as always with long-time collaborator Steve Albini, The Precious Prize of
    Gravity is Bellini's most accomplished production yet. Guitarist Agostino Tilotta
    wraps a hundred notes per minute around the towering, sturdy rhythm section of
    Matthew Taylor and Alexis Fleisig (Girls Against Boys), while Giovanna Cacciola's (Uzeda)
    poetic lyrics and smoky melodies alternately recall Grace Slick and PJ Harvey.

  • al de bellini le tenía ganas. gracias.

  • Por cierto, muy buenos los discos de Peaking Lights. Conocía el primero,
    'Clearvoiant', pero no les había vuelto a seguir la pista desde entonces.
    Muchas gracias.

  • Roxy Rawson - Changing Things (2009)

    Having been raised in a Mormon community in Hitchin, trained in piano and violin at a Paris conservatoire, self tutored in singing ‘jumping intervals’ and ‘jazz standards’ and then joining an African Choir; it is unsurprising that Roxy Rawson’s idiosyncratic style of music is less than conventional and more than stimulating in it’s eccentricity and finesse.

    Violin is at the basis of all of Roxy’s music; on it she plays multiple parts. She is the rhythm section plucking at violin strings and ring finger tapping the body in time to her percussive vocal delivery. She strums the violin like a ukulele and uses household objects such as biros in place of a bow to create a unique backing track to her vocals and pop inspired melodies. Laughter, humming and scatting garnish this delicious gumbo of sound.

    Roxy has already been championed by the Independent on Sunday as the UK’s answer to Regina Spektor and her inimitable warmth and charm is discussed nearly as often as her fruity modus operandi.

    Roxy was one of a select handful of artists, carefully chosen for release by Ambiguous Records. The label was set up by Al Mobbs, double bassist and erstwhile collaborator with Damon Albarn on Goriilaz, The Good the Bad the Queen, Marium & Amadou and Monkey. Aside from his own successful career as a musician, writer, and broadcaster, Al runs one of London’s most fruitful independent labels. He spotted a gap when his musician friend Mr David Viner found himself on tour with The White Stripes, but with no label, record and merchandise to promote. Thus Ambiguous was born, released Viner’s first single and has since become home to a colourful array of new artists.

    Ambiguous Records were recently asked to curate Hush, an independent label showcase at the Royal Albert Hall. On Feb 24th Roxy Rawson played alongside Orphans & Vandals and Benjamin Onono in this grand setting. Ambiguous are the latest in a line of hot new labels to showcase at the illustrious venue, including Moshi Moshi, Transgressive and Chess Club.

    Roxy releases her debut, the Changing Things EP on Ambiguous May 4th.

  • 36 - hypersona [3six, 2009]

    @8vsbjy7n:

    Hypersona" is the debut release by 36 for his fledgling label, 3six Recordings. Produced over a span of 3 years, it represents the first in a series of three planned albums under the 36 alias.

    Unfathomably rich textures combine with delicate instrumentation, and the ghostprint of lost transmissions struggle for their right to be heard. The cold warmth of radio static rushes the heart, whilst the tender melodies break it into a thousand pieces. Always beautiful, but with an unnerving sense of malice, "Hypersona" is like a twisted fairytale, where the outcome is never certain and light must always cast a shadow.

    Drawing upon countless influences, but expressed in a personal, honest voice, "Hypersona" is a distinctive, original work, which ignores trends and sits comfortably in a space without time and place

  • Think About Life - Family

    http://rs652.rapidshare.com/files/232059784/Think_About_Life-Family-_ALIENCD78_-CD-2009-iPC.rar

    The Pink Noise - Menagerie cs [Jerkwave Tapes, 2009]

    @2r8j05ng:

    The Pink Noise returns with an EP's worth of new material on Jerkwave Tapes and we couldn't be more excited. His album "Dream Code" was one of the best things to land last year and this cassette proves that the hits just keep on coming! The 7 songs of "Menagerie" find Mr. Pink Noise seemingly becoming simultaneously more focused (as is shown on minute long punk-head-nod opener "Lips" and the demented reggae'd out "Wings of Love") and more out there (the atonal guitar blasts and drum freakout of "T. Rex" and the stumbling along synthy closer "Moonlight") All together one of the strongest, most freaky Pink Noise releases yet! Leaves you wanting more for sure. Edition of 75 on pro imprinted and dubbed pink tapes.

    NASA - Diamonds and Wood [Not Not Fun, 2009]

    @2r8j05ng:

    These post-everything (noise-rock, kraut-punk, thrash-psych), post-Floridian (they live all over the place now…Canada, East Coast, etc) post-teens (somebody’s 20) have a savvy knack for mainlining that exact slow-burn basement car crash guitar/drums symbiosis that makes us wanna simultaneously mosh, steal a skateboard, and put out a tape. The previous NASA cassette on NNF (Bummer Daze) rolled in more of a groove-damaged Blues Control-on-glue mode, and the production was kinda clean and line-in sounding in places. But Diamonds & Wood (in addition to being the name of a bangin' Underground Kingz song) is in fact an earlier NASA album, recorded back in 2006 and originally released in an edition of 24 on their own H Tapes imprint. We’ve always wanted to reissue it for more ears, and happily that day has come. A staggering hour-long descent into frenzied depths of overdriven riffing, drum abuse, and distortion psychosis that seems to get inexplicably more and more lo-fi as it grinds on, this is what the teenage garage bands of America in our dreams sound like (not far off from a wasted, rawer Heavy Winged). Sloppy, shredding, surreal, sick, and stupid in equal parts, NASA at the height of their Epcot Center-based powers are nothing if not a shining example of low/high/no-art primitivism in its most gutter and uncut form. Take it or leave it. Pro-dubbed and imprinted tapes in silver-misted cases with full-color wood grain/bejeweled artwork designed by Amanda. Hand-numbered edition of 100.
