lo que también es representativo de este disco es que el instrumento que más se hace notar sea el bajo y suene menos a bajo que nunca. de acuerdísimo en que ahora suenan tela a melvins. más que a zu si me apuras.

'how to raise an ox' es mi segundo favorito del grupo. durante un tiempo amé 'the way of the animal powers'.

"The Zu "Intermediate Spirit Receiver" CD which was scheduled to be released via PG, Fortissimo (UK) and dotlinecircle (Japan) will NOT be released. The band has decided to shelve the material at the moment. Zu and PG may work together in the future, but in the meantime, watch for their new album, "Carboniferous" to be out on Ipecac in Feb. 2009."

es una cosa muy cutre, un tipo levantando la camara y que se cansa a ratos.. no era dimeadozen era otra cosa, pero no me acuerdo. tampoco tengo el dvd por aquí, cuando me acuerde te doy mas datos

ostia, esto suena como un sopapo el la cara sin que te lo esperes. aunque prefería las producciones menos pulidas y compactas de otros discos de zu.
es cierto que se ve un disco más centrado y pensado, en cierto modo está bien aunque por otro lado se echa de menos que un grupo como Zu deje de lado su parte más jazzera.
es un disco que seguro que gusta mucho al fan medio de ipecac.
en cualquier caso esto tiene pinta de acabar siendo un gran disco, a ver cómo va con las escuchas.

Telefon Tel Aviv son dos y vienen de New Orleáns. Joshua Eustis y Charlie Cooper, procedentes de la escena industrial, hardcore y punk de su tierra, llevan unos cinco años empeñados en sacar partido de su formación clásica (uno de ellos estudió en el conservatorio; ambos son multiinstrumentistas) sin cesar también en su intento de hacer evolucionar a una electrónica últimamente estancada. Su álbum de debut “Fahrenheit Fair Enough” (Hefty 2001), por otra parte, estaba más influenciado por la IDM melódica.
Sin perder la inquietud, “Map of What is Effortless” da un paso más incorporando las voces souly de Damon Aaron (cantante y letrista) y de Lindsay Anderson (musa de los delicados L’Altra), así como una orquesta de cámara de 30 miembros.

Etiquetado por algunos críticos musicales como “Laptop Soul”, su sonido alberga influencias diversas: ritmos cercanos al R&B y soul de lenguaje electrónico, guiños al disco-house y dosis de trip hop de nuevo milenio. En algunos casos, presentan incluso deudas con los Alpha y Zero 7 más orquestados. Sea como sea, su música ya ha seducido a gente como Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle y Eminem, a los cuales han remezclado durante este año.

a mí me pasa lo mismo, hay otros discos de zu que me gustan más (aunque no diría el igneo), pero bueno está claro que peta mucho, es bastante variado y, lo más importante, añade cosas nuevas a lo que han venido haciendo zu estos últimos cuatro o cinco años.
con el disco queda claro que los romanos siguen en movimiento y ahora han decidido dejarse de impros y hacer algo más directo (en ese sentido me parece significativo que el instrumento más presente a lo largo de disco sea el bajo). un eslabón más en la carrera de zu.

te había leído, pichón. lo que yo quería destacar es que el bajo de este disco suena más a guitarra eléctrica que a bajo. todavía no he reconocido el tema en el que mete guitarras el buzzo porque podrían ser unos pocos sin problemas. las distorsiones tan burras en el bajo, que el saxo tampoco se reconozca apenas y que la batería vaya a garrote son tres cambios que por ahora me cuesta digerir más de lo esperado. el disco tiene una pinta genial, no digo que no. pero sigo pensando en que estos no son los zu a los que estaba acostumbrado por muchos bandazos que hayan dado antes. esto es un disco más del pelotón ipecac, de acuerdísimo con iñigo. el último de moha! está que cruje y no suena demasiado distinto en algunos momentos.

ambrosiosanchez, gracias por la información del 'intermediate', no estaba al tanto pero lo sospechaba. disco grabado con fecha de lanzamiento, publicidad en revistas de papel, tres sellos preparados para sacarlo y al final acaba en la estantería cogiendo polvo. increíble. debieron llegarse a repartir algunas promos, porque he leído reseñas por algún lado. he rebuscado lo suyo y parece que no se llegó a filtrar.

No. Shut It’ LP, the raucous four-piece have laid waste to audience ears with a barrage of snarling feedback and screamed vocals somewhere between psychedelic freak-out and a grunge fallout. 2004’s ‘Hobo Sunrise’ found them focus and refine this assault somewhat, but still the band rocked with a rawness absent in many of the garage-rock scene’s allegedly authentic outfits

‘Exit Dreams’ is, at this point at least, the band’s final LP; that it arrives going on five years since its predecessor prompts much speculation about its gestation, about member differences and relationships impossible to salvage. But if they’re splitting for good, what a way to go – ‘Exit Dreams’ is no burn out, more a brilliant explosion of everything The Hunches represented during their recording career.

At every turn there’s the purest passion, the roughest gems – ‘Ate My Teeth’ squeals like Mudhoney’s four pinned against a barn wall by a tractor, its melodies evident but only once the alerting alarm has died down. ‘Your Sick Blooms’ clatters and crashes like the best of Black Lips – a pop tune buried by congealed spit and bile. But ‘Exit Dreams’ isn’t all tinnitus-inducing bombast – ‘From This Window’ finds the foursome slowing their pace, albeit for but a few fleeting minutes, and represents a mid-album highlight standing proud in a sea of crackle and fuzz.

‘Swim Hole’ closes proceedings with a typically rambunctious flourish, leaving the fan saddened by the end of another act worth the gig admission (believe, there are fewer and fewer out there), while the newcomer may well be promoted to explore the band’s recommended previous releases.

And they should, too, as this is about as real as the real deal can get without being The Stooges in ’69.
