Growing up is hard to do, but it's even more difficult when you're a 40-year-old man who's still sporting board shorts and worn-out Vans slip-ons. Thankfully looks can be deceiving, and in celebration of their 20th anniversary, Strung Out have finally released an album that captures the same energy and enthusiasm of their '90s output like Another Day In Paradise and Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues. While Strung Out suffered from an identity crisis during their second decade (which saw them struggling to remain relevant by incorporating elements of nü metal and thrash into their sound), Agents Of The Underground sees them revisiting the melodic punk that helped endear them to Warped Tour attendees everywhere. Correspondingly, blazing, guitar harmony-driven tracks like "Heart Attack" sound like Bad Religion covering Iron Maiden, while breakdown-dominated tracks like "Dead Spaces" finally see the band writing music that's heavy without being heavy-handed

Muchos de vosotros no sabréis quien es Mark Mulcahy, yo tampoco lo sabia hasta hace un par de meses. Lo que si sabemos es que tiene muy buenos amigos que han acudido al rescate en cuanto ha tenido problemas. Y es que gente como Thom Yorke, Michael Stipe, The National, Mercury Rev y unos cuantos más, han decidió unirse para versionar las canciones de los dos grupos de Mulcahy (Miracle Legion y Polaris), y hacer este homenaje con el fin de recaudar fondos para su amigo, ya que recientemente su mujer falleció de cancer y no tiene dinero para cuidar a sus dos gemelas.
Como en todo disco benéfico, hay cosas buenas y malas, pero el disco merece bastante la pena, sobre todo por las cuatro versiones de los que he puesto un poco más arriba.01. Thom Yorke – “All For The Best”
