    En breve lo filtraré todo si me dan el permiso.
    Hay unas copias iniciales de promoción, y de hecho Thurston Moore ya tiene su copia, y no es broma. Saldrá en enero. Y ya colgaré la portada/contraportada...

    Sic Alps - L. Mansion 7'' [Slumberland, 2009]

    Sic Alps have yet to really impress me but they seem pretty popular with the office folk so maybe i should give 'em a wide birth. Saying that I'm digging A-side 'L. Mansion' from the outset. It sounds like it was recorded thirty years ago and has been sitting in some clued up psyche pop collectors vault until the time is right for a psyche revival, i guess now is as good a time as any. It's simple little doo wop-esque rock'n'roll composition striped down the essential elements with the vocal playing the largest role. It sounds great and is making me want to revisit earlier Sic Alp's efforts. B-side 'Super Lungs my supergirl' is a Donovan cover performed convincingly with a ton of enthusiasm. It's worth hearing if only for the insane guitar solo and the mutant take on the original Donovan vocal. Psyche!!!

    Dan Melchior Und Das Menace - Obscured by Fuzz [Topplers Records, 2009]

    When Topplers Records started it's MySpace page in 2006 one of the first people to get in touch was Dan Melchior and when we checked out the tracks on his MySpace page we were blown away!
    His back catalogue started with collaborations with Billy Childish and Holly Golightly and a solo 7" was released on Billy's Hangman record label in 1997. He then left England for the USA and formed the 'Broke Review' who released several bluesy rock records on 'In The Red' records.

    As good as these records were they didn't prepare us for the quality of the stuff he was releasing with his new band Dan Melchior und das Menace. This was less like the authentic bluesy sound of his early work and more experimental and vibrant! There were hints of Dylanesque lyrics, nods to sixties psychedelia, huge dollops of post-punk DIY and, most of all, layers of fucked up and fuzzed out guitars behind memorable songs with biting lyrics! Dan has been producing an onslaught of releases over the past couple of years, mostly on good old fashioned vinyl. He has been represented by some of the coolest record labels on the planet but has only had two tracks released on compilations here in the UK!

    In the next few weeks, - I should have some soon - and hopefully a number of US distributors will too , as Topplers is based in bonnie Scotland (I want to go back to Glasgow so badly!) It's a good one I think, very loud and blasted out like the more 'punk' moments on 'Thankyou very much' , but with a good dose of mangled pop too.
