    Por cierto, lo de que sea para flojitos, está por ver. El cantante en su voz tiene más actitud punk que cualquiera que quiera demostrar serlo, ya sabéis estos grupos de pacotilla... que tan de moda están últimamente.

    Una mezcla entre el folk lofi de Woods, el folk desacompasado de Bowerbirds y un tono de voz que no le corresponde al estilo.

    Pfff… así a primeras como No Age haciendo versiones de Joy Division y un poco toque cafre de HEALTH. Pero seguro que alguien te hace una ecuación mejor.

    Wye Oak: The Knot

    The new album from Baltimore’s Wye Oak will be available on July 21st. The Knot was written and recorded by Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner in their living room. The band started as a basement project with the duo recording demos together and soon expanded to include tours of America and Europe. The NY Times’ Jon Pareles described Wye Oak’s live performance, “Wye Oak segued thoughtful roots-tinged rock into richly overwhelming textural excursions.”
    A set of songs that sway, stretch, and scream while always reaching outward for personal connection. As ever, Andy Stack's production layers his own multi-instrumental arrangements over Jenn Wasner's woozy compositions, but musically, too, things sound more precise. There's less squalling feedback than before, but lingering violin and pedal steel bring out the droning Americana that has always informed Wye Oak's sound.

    Bombadil - Tarpits and Canyonlands (2009)

    Bombadil’s giddy new album, Tarpits and Canyonlands, is sunburst and lime-wedge, is summer folk and afternoon pop - but it’s also utterly weird. There are songs in English, in Spanish; a happy song about a sad birthday (which is wonderful, and still up at Fluxblog); a song called “Koala Lumpur” - whose main lyrics are that same “Kuala Lumpur”. The album’s aesthetic is very pop (and in a small way it’s They Might Be Giants - wait! wait! i mean that actually in a good way), but oddly the thing it most reminds me of is a defunct webcomic called When I Am King. Sentimental, sandy, absurd, vulgar, narrative, shot through with smiles. Tarpits and Canyonlands opens with a song called “I Am” (which might as well be called “I Am … Building You A Pyramid”), offering chanted vocals, heave-hos, and a sort of glib piano-line. That song is later answered with another, “Pyramid” - a track with drumsnaps, pan-pipes, crash cymbals … and those same heave-hos. They make a bizarre pair, twins whose talents are considerable but undeclared. You wonder what these songs are for, what caves this band can unlock.
