The pieces on this latest Touch 7" were composed by Room40 label boss Lawrence English for a performance by avant-garde Australian circus group Circa for their Regarding The Joy Of Others performance. The event involved the transformation of Brisbane's Gasometer from an imposing industrial presence to the backdrop for a unique trapeze act by Chelsea McGuffin. Accompanying this, English set about spinning some of his signature electronic tones and noise signals designed to allow the audience to "experience the woman's pain and sheer joy". Devoid of that context the two compositions ('Without Sanctuary' and 'One Thousand Miles Of White') remain pertinent drone works, making for an apt companion to his Kiri No Oto album (also on Touch). Expect windblown drifts of static, searing jetstream sounds and hints at grainy, veiled field recordings. Amazing. (boomkat)

Inspired by the stories of the people who make this journey through Mexico, actor and director Gael García Bernal and director Marc Silver joined forces with Amnesty International to shine a light on the abuses migrants suffer. Told over four parts, the film is a shocking look at a world many people would rather you didn’t know about.
Ben Frost’s soundtrack offers a stark and emotive backdrop to the film, enhancing the already breathtaking and moving scenes captured as the Invisibles’ stories unfolds. We’re hugely grateful to Ben for donating all proceeds from sales directly to Amnesty International.

Black Swan operates under a guise of far-away sounds traveling through murky waters, drowning the listener in its heavy-handed layers of ghostly resonance.

Llevo tiempo revindicando a eleh, pero justamente ese Radiant intervals es el vinilo que más aprecio de mis adquisiciones del año.

Edito para decir que los discos de este "señor" han de escucharse sin cascos, con unos monitores lo suficientemente bien dispuestos para guardar la sensación de estereo y a un volumen considerable. No lo digo yo, viene en sus propios vinilos. Lo suyo es totalmente fisico.

El de Black Swan es una pequeña joyita. Los tíos me escribieron al blog para que lo escuchara y me quedé con los oídos muy contentos.

Something quite exceptional from Mika Vainio – a 17 minute exploration of guitar feedback manipulation plus three further minimalist electronic compositions. Not that it was ever in question, but ‘Heijastuva’ shows the real scope of Mika’s oeuvre from the outset with a lightshow of tenderly harmonised and deftly sculpted distortion referencing timeless music from Robert Fripp and Brian Eno’s experiments in the ’70s through to modern day Fennesz or Jim O’Rourke, all with a graciously diffident composure and detached beauty. This track could reduce sentimental types to tears. In more familiar, bleak and isolated terrain ‘Ankysiolyytti’ is eleven minutes of wonderfully alien soundscapes mapping similar zones to Daphne Oram or Rafael Toral. Cleansing the palette, ‘Ensimmäinen Valo’ redolent of his amazing ‘Kantamoinen’ tracks may be short but it’s also one of the most affecting pieces here, and ‘Hikari’ is a sublime exercise in ultra-refined, minimalist electronic composition with a crisp and purified finish. ..

¿Hablas del "Love Is a Stream"? No me pareció tan memorable, un poco aburrido…
El de Earth me parece una versión más distendida/alargada/expansiva que el anterior. La ausencia de piano le da un tono diferente, y la insistencia en el cello es interesante. No está mal, recuerda a los Earth más ambient, trazando un vínculo entre el Bees Made Honey y el Hex.
