Drive-By Truckers – The Big To-Do (2010)

@1xuiei8x:
New York, NY—ATO Records is pleased to announce the signing of Drive-By Truckers and their label debut, The Big To-Do. The album, which will be the band’s tenth in their thirteen-year career, is scheduled to be released March 16, 2010. The Big To-Do features thirteen new tracks from the Drive-By Truckers and was produced by their long time producer, David Barbe (Sugar, Bettye LaVette). “It’s very much a rock album,” says Patterson Hood of the Trucker’s upcoming release. “Very melodic and more rocking than anything we’ve done since disc 2 of Southern Rock Opera.”
The inspiration for The Big To-Do came to the band during their time on the road. “We’ve often set our songs and albums in different periods of time, but this one finds us directly in our present. Riding all through the highways of America (and Europe) trying to make sense of a very different world than the one we grew up in,” says Hood. “I don’t write a lot of songs on the road, but I did more than usual on this album and many more were inspired by or set there, either in a literal sense or something I witnessed or heard about while I was out there.”Hood and Mike Cooley continue to be the chief songwriters of the group, continuing a musical partnership that has lasted over twenty-three years. Bassist, Shonna Tucker, flexes her songwriting muscles once again by contributing two original songs to the album. Brad Morgan (drums), John Neff (guitar/pedal steel) and Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) round out the current Drive-By Truckers lineup.
The band recently backed legendary R&B musician, Booker T. Jones, on his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated album, Potato Hole. The album is nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Album and Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Nice Face - Immer Etwas [Sacred Bones, 2010]

@221jfd52:
Immer Etwas is the first full length release from this one man bedroom recording project turned full on 5-piece live band. Nice Face have been turning out singles, comp tracks, and cassettes at a steady clip over the past two years and change. This LP is a solid thirteen tracks of drum-machine driven blown out hook-laden punk rock that one reviewer prone to curmudgeonly ranting proclaimed “locks Blank Dogs in the pound, erases ‘Psychedelic’ from Psychedelic Horseshit, makes purses and boots out of Crocodiles, and, oh I don’t know…makes a puddle out of Wavves?” We think that is the cheesiest sentence ever written, even though it was intended as a compliment. Live, the band now counts members of Livefastdie and Imaginary Icons among its ranks. The CD version will include the two Sacred Bones singles, the HoZac single, and the song from Killer Diller Records’ Wild About Jenkem comp.

Peaking LIghts - Space Primitive [Fuckittapes, 2010]

@h4muv8s8:
After Peaking Lights’ amazing LP release last year, more than a few people were excited for their newest release, selling out as quickly as it was put down to tape it seems. The excitement could be scaled back a notch when you find out that the material is not really new, it’s a one-sided c20, features cover art reminiscent of stoned noodlings in health class and is way more expensive than it should be considering the medium it is released on. Despite these disappointing attributes, it’s unadvertised, super-quick selling out speaks to the greatness of this band.

Nice Nice – Extra Wow [Warp, 2010]

@25r415qk:
Nice Nice are Jason Buehler and Mark Shirazi, a duo that have been using guitars, drums, voices, electronics and lots of other stuff to create their “post-everything modern music” for nearly a decade. Their second single on Warp 'See Waves' will be available on February 8th, followed by their debut album 'Extra Wow' on April 5th in Europe and April 6th in the United States.
Nice Nice are set to release their debut LP 'Extra Wow' on April 6th, preceded by the single release of See Waves on limited 7inch in just over a week's time (Feb 8th/9th).
The band will be performing live at a number of West Coast venues in the US in late February and Early March. Standby for news of more European dates following the mini tour in late 2009 including their triumphant set at Warp20 (London).
Extra Wow is an apt title for an album that presents itself as a constantly unfolding collection of kaleidoscopic musical sediments. Each song effectively builds on the one before it to create the effect of an album-length crescendo that encompasses everything from forward-reaching psychedelia and neo-primitive electronic experiments to dub rhythms and learned lessons from the pillars of krautrock. From the acid-punk opening of 'One Hit' it’s apparent that establishing your equilibrium within the world of Nice Nice will not be easy.

Oneohtrix Point Never – Rifts

Part 1```
http://www.mediafire.com/?2cukqmkyemjPart 2``` http://www.mediafire.com/?xmitj1uyczeHauntology-Ambient-Drone
@elh9p18d:
Daniel Lopatin has been putting out longform synthesizer meditations under the curious moniker Oneohtrix Point Never (pretty sure I read that it’s supposed to be pronounced like a radio station frequency, i.e. 106.7 with ‘trix’ and ‘never’ instead of 6 and 7). Like many artists in the burgeoning DIY ambient/drone scene, he spreads his work across a multitude of extremely limited CD-Rs and tapes, which can be kind of a hassle to track down. Luckily, he’s put out Rifts to compile the best sounds off three of his latest albums onto one 2XCD release. OPN takes a lot of cues from early new-age ambient innovators like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, and all of the analog synths sound like they’re coming at you from a mid-70’s space documentary. It conjures up some neat images, and the whole retro-futurist vibe gives it a different spin than other ambient stuff. If you dig the synthy side of Emeralds, you’ll probably dig this, as well as the Skyramps project that Lopatin and Mark McGuire from Emeralds collaborated on a few years ago, which I just might post soon.
