    A Weather – Everyday Balloons

    @1pt8gtan:

    Since their first record, Cove, was about as quiet as can be, A Weather had only one way to go on their follow-up: louder. Everyday Balloons is more dynamic and makes use of all five members of the band.
    A Weather's rhythm section, once relegated to only keeping the beat and announcing chord changes, has a much more prominent role. They drive the dynamics louder, play off the vocals, and are even given the occasional counter-melody. Enough restraint is shown that when the band does rise above mezzo forte or introduce an intricate line, it stands out. While their role is increased, the rhythm section is once again not the attraction.
    The interaction between lead singers Aaron Gerber and Sarah Winchester is the focus of this record. As a duo, they're as good as any; their voices curl around each other like smoke trails from blown out candles. Unlike the instruments behind them, they barely rise above a whisper.
    This record is filled with great little swells – the one at the end of “Happiness” is my favorite – and some quirky lyrics that shouldn't work but do, like in “Midday Moon.” “You once were a dish sponge/ now you clean tile/ in the bathroom/ where sponges go to die.”
    Everyday Balloons is a subtle record. It reveals itself more and more on multiple listens and requires some patience. Fans of Iron & Wine and The Swell Season will probably be more willing to give it the time it needs.

    ```Folk pop delicado con unas buenas voces (chico & chica).
    Parece inofensivo al principio, pero poco a poco te va enganchando.
    A ver que os parece.
  • ¿Alguien sabe si el disco de versiones de Nadasurf va a poner su disco disponible en otro sitio que no sea durante sus conciertos?
  • The Streets - Computers And Blues (2010)
  • The Streets siguen vivos? Acaso soy el único que no ve un link en el post anterior? Sigue siendo Hollywwod la meca del cine?
    Toxinho, he escuchado en mi hora de la comida tu recomendación y ha sido un placer, ahora me voy a Peticiones porque me he acordado al oirlo de un disco de L Altra que compré en Tanned Tin en Santander y perdí.
  • @mauricio:
    The Streets - Computers And Blues (2010)
    Pues sigue vivo y por lo visto esta filtración (bueno, jeje, sin link) es falsa. No estoy muy al tanto del tema pero desmintieron que esta sea su nueva producción… creo que es un compilado de temas sueltos hecho por fans o algo así.
    EDITO: aquí esta la información de The Streets, por lo visto es un compilado de canciones que soltó por Twitter http://www.nme.com/news/the-streets/50068
  • me pregunto pq quitan mi post, acá se trata de aportar
    Acá en los EEUU, saldrá a la venta como disco normal (bueno, normal para una banda indie "mediana"). Me imagino apenas exista una versión física, ya sea en las tiendas o enviada para ser evaluada a la prensa, aparecerá por rapidshare/mediafire/etc.
  • PETER WOLF CRIER-Inter-Be
    Inter-Be is the debut album by PETER WOLF CRIER, the Minneapolis-based duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. The album was born on a single summer night when Pisano felt a torrent of creativity after what had felt, to him, like an interminably long dry spell. He shared the songs with Moen, and over the months that followed, at Moen's home, these rough-hewed tunes became what they are now: a confident collection of songs, but deceptive in that their very guts still reflect the thoughts of a man in transition.
    Pisano's is not a new songwriting voice. He is best known for being part of the Wars of 1812, an ascendant Wisconsin-bred quartet. Their first album together, Status Quo Ante Bellum, was more than just an album. It was relocation and aspiration and Pisano's lyrical Eden. As the Wars went on hiatus, Pisano continued to hone his craft, keeping his days full as a teacher at a small private school while fine-tuning, at night, the songs that would soon become Inter-Be. Feeling confident in the songs, Pisano approached Moen, a seasoned drummer and engineer best known for his involvement in Laarks and Amateur Love. After being asked to add some percussive elements, Moen added his thundering drum rolls and perfectly timed fills, but he also added something much more: a melodic soundscape that would complete the evolution of the songs. So was born the partnership that is called Peter Wolf Crier.
    Jagjaguwar is no stranger to our near northern neighbors' musical culture. With our ears tuned into labelmates Gayngs, Volcano Choir, and Bon Iver, Peter Wolf Crier fits firmly into our developing Midwestern curatorial. This internationally traveling exposition of the Northern Midwest's best and brightest all starts within a couple hundred miles radius, stretching from Minneapolis to Milwaukee. For the seemingly endless rolling plains and valleys of our local geography, that is right next door.
