ELV026- “Ocean Roar” by Mount Eerie – LP+download (September 2012)
Part two of the pair, this portion going deeper into the fog and wall of noise, still asking, half remembering a dream of a midnight road trip to the ocean from 20 years ago.ELV025- “Clear Moon” by Mount Eerie – LP+download (May 22nd, 2012)
Part one of a pair of records exploring a living place as a modern questioning person, walking around and looking at things for 80 or so years before disbanding back into dirt. -
Gracias por el disco. Por cierto, este vídeo de "The Place Lives" (extraída del anterior Clear Moon) ayuda a hacerse una idea de donde viene la música de Elverum.

some new releases:
eternal summers / correct behavior (kanine, 2012)
It is, as you would expect with the addition of a new member, sonically fuller than their debut Silver and earlier EPs. Until now, Eternal Summers was writing jangly post-punk stompers (Pogo, Able To) and languid dream pop ballads (Safe at Home, Lightswitch); hitting opposite ends of the spectrum was evoking confusion for some. And while Correct Behavior still reaches the upbeats (I Love You) and the slowbeats (Good as You), album opener (Millions) blends the disparate aspects of their back catalog into a coherent sound that is uniquely theirs. It is bright, fresh and bridges any gaps that might arise from what they once lovingly called dream-punk.

family band / grace & lies (no quarter, 2012)
@3seqc1nb:
A collaboration between visual-artist-turned-singer Kim Krans and her husband, onetime heavy-metal guitarist Jonny Ollsin (Children, S.T.R.E.E.T.S.), the merging of the couple's sensibilities makes for music that's simultaneously elegant and visceral. Their songs are as stark as bare trees in winter, Krans' baleful alto swooping mournfully over Ollsin's glimmering guitar like a black crow against a grey sky. As its title implies Grace & Lies is equal parts light and shadow, evoking the mystery and terror of early Cat Power, the ghostly aura of Warpaint, with whom Family Band toured in 2011, and the hushed longing of prime-era Cowboy Junkies. Though they explored similar territory – both sonically and lyrically -- on their self-released debut, Miller Path, on Grace their canvas is wider -- the greys lusher, the blacks deeper. Assisted by bass and lapsteel player Scott Hirsch (Hiss Golden Messenger), the couple has made a record that boldly confronts life's darker questions. "Miller Path was recorded mostly at our cabin upstate, while Jonny was busy with his metal band and I was focused on my visual arts career," Krans explains. "It was my first time recording music and I didn't know how to steer the wheel. I didn't even know what the wheel was. But with Grace & Lies, we all decided what the overarching atmosphere and mood of the record should be. I made big drawings of each song in the control room, with all the parts and changes illustrated, and we built those visions with sound."

kestrels / a ghost story (sonic unyon, 2012)
@3seqc1nb:
Taking the aesthetic of early 90s Creation Records and mixing it with the ethics and energy of the first Merge Records releases, Kestrels have forged their sound. They have cut their teeth as a ferociously loud live act, and the new record sounds appropriate turned all of the way up; it also warrants late night listening with headphones.

glacial / on jones beach (three lobed, 2012)
@3w31utox:
Comprising Lee Ranaldo, David Watson and drummer Tony Buck, Glacial's debut full-length album is a masterpiece in blurring and burning the edges, riding the divide between chaos and melody like a skateboarder gliding on a rail.

@diasderubias:2l9joxc6:
Colabora Jim O’Rourke manel.
