  • EXPO ‘70 / BE INVISIBLE NOW! split (Kill Shaman / Boring Machines) cd-r

    @1443kigp:

    Latest from aQ faves Expo ‘70, masters of modern krautdrone, every record another chapter in their expanding sonic history of the universe, a tale in sound, of suns and planets, of drifting in space, of galaxies expanding, of stars dying, of black holes, and endless expanses, of timelessness and infinity.

    Two tracks, each a slow building epic, the first rife with deep chordal swells, simple strummed acoustic guitars, crumbling distorted leads, mournful melancholy melodies, distant streaks of feedback, abstract whir and deep minimal rumble, a gorgeous slab of outer space drone folk, like a more spaced out kraut version of Kiss The Anus, or like a new weird America Santana fused with Hawkwind at their most acoustic and blissed out. The second track is a much dronier affair, a spaced out soundscape of rumbling, buzzing, shimmering synths, layered and textured, rhythmic and hypnotic. Like Tangerine Dream or Popol Vuh, but much darker and buzzier, but just as blissy and space-y. The sound building and building into a heaving wall of synths and guitars, various whirs and rumbles and tangled up minimal melodies, all wavering textures and timbres, eventually joined by strange outer space FX, and more pronounced funereal melodies. Some truly gorgeous spacey shit for sure.

    For this cd-r, Expo ‘70 have teamed up with Italian drone rockers Be Invisible Now, who have a similar sound, but definitely manages to make it their own. Beginning like some Goblin Argento soundtrack, all creepy synths and swells of black ambience, delicate little spacey melodies and swooshing FX, that swirl and build, the track begins to distort and crumble, the effects becoming more agitated and intense, the whole track thickening, until drums come in, offering up a tribal framework, around which the sea of synths swirls and shimmers, a mysterious rhythmic space rock ritual, which quickly fades out, leaving the various layers of synths to slow down, to slip away, to darken and crumble, leaving just a soft, fading buzz.

    The second BIN! track begins all heavy and distorted, almost like some spacier Wolf Eyes, wrapped in swirling effects, anchored by simple pounding percussion, the synths getting more intense and more buzzy, thick and blown out, the programmed rhythms growing skittery and chaotic, everything louder and more dense, more distorted, FX everywhere, the track erupting into some strange noise drenched new wave, like the soundtrack to some French new wave horror film, or some New Order remix rejected for being to noisy and fucked up and scary. Awesome.

    A pretty good intercontinental space rock, krautdrone matchup for sure. Packaged in a full color eco-wallet digipak style sleeve, and of course LIMITED.

    Hay canciones nuevas, peel sessions y singles que habían aparecido sólo en ese formato y en tiradas limitadísimas. En cualquier caso, nada que estuviera ya en algún otro LP de la banda. Ah, y está de putísima madre: irregular, apasionado, guerrero, tierno, verdadero.

    David Bowie - iSelect (2008)

    @3mn6qdid:

    Earlier this year, David Bowie was asked by a UK newspaper to compile a selection of 12 songs from his own catalogue for a limited edition giveaway CD titled iSELECT: BOWIE. Rather than submitting a surface-skimming list of top hits, Bowie delivered a personal, career-spanning selection of recordings he “never seems to tire of,” including two exclusive tracks, with his own insightful notes; personal reflections that provide fascinating insight into every selection and why each song continues to resonate with him.

    @26xsmwvt:

    Brian Hermosillo of The Fevers is back with an awesome project he did a while back while farting around Holland. Fever B is probably the most meticulous songwriter we have ever worked with, and this record is a testament to his attention to detail. This sucker is big time bang for your buck too with four songs. First 100 on blue and white sorta swirly vinyl.

  • The Boat People - Chandeliers (2008)

    @341kmqov:

    “Chandeliers is an undeniably brilliant, rich and honest pop record. Every inch of catchiness is matched and even occasionally exceeded by a clever lyric or a fitting guitar riff. Every cute and bright coloured flash is contrasted by a bittersweet poetic sentence or sharp tempo change. The Boat People are not only cleverer than the average 'indie pop' group but are also a lot more consistent. Each song carries it's own weight, yet at the same time this album feels like a single body of work. To be so pop-focused and still give off such a strong feeling of artistic freedom is extremely rare.”

    a mi no es que me maten pero tal vez guste a alguien..

  • The Twilight Sad - Killed My Parents And Hit The Road

    http://rapidshare.com/files/162296818/TTSKMPAHTR_Vic.zip

    @20gll8q4:

    With their dates in support of Mogwai starting tonight (October 27), the Twilight Sad have made the gigs more enticing by bringing along a new, limited edition release called The Twilight Sad Killed My Parents and Hit the Road.

    The record collects instrumentals, live tracks, and covers, some of which are previously unreleased. Those covers include songs originally by the Smiths, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and, surprise surprise, Joy Division.

    Speaking of covers, the one adorning Killed My Parents– pictured above-- parodies Raymond Pettibon's iconic artwork for Sonic Youth's Goo. Who knew these guys had a sense of humor?

    1. Walking for Two Hours (live)
    2. That Summer, At Home I Had Become the Invisible Boy (live)
    3. Untitled 28
    4. Cold Days from the Birdhouse (live)
    5. And She Would Darken the Memory (live)
    6. Twenty Four Hours (Joy Division cover)
    7. The Weath-er is Bad (from the short film Brilliant Noise)
    8. Half a Person (The Smiths cover)
    9. Untitled 27
    10. Modern Romance (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover)
    11. I Was Hoping Winter Was Over

  • gracias por el de Twilight Sad que los traigan al PS 2009!!!!

    Eric Copeland - Alien in a Garbage Dump

    www.mediafire.com/?j5mnmdgjnn2

    @wi3dtmjm:

    Taking off where his last record, "Hermaphrodite" left off, these seven jams are steeped in modern media overload; dense, often fragmented blasts of ideas and sounds, representative of a half hour of prime-time TV (or something like that). This is overloaded, over-processed, overdosed music rooted in public sounds, but is somehow a giant leap from any fashion dominating the public mind. Limited edition vinyl-only pressing. Look for an Eric Copeland and Black Dice full-length in 2009.

    @wi3dtmjm:

    Sometimes a song's title can tell you something. Case in point is the title track from the Alien in a Garbage Dump vinyl-only EP by Black Dice member Eric Copeland. As heard on his record last year, Hermaphrodite, Copeland is something of a sonic dumpster diver, finding weird bits of sonic detritus and then slapping them together into collages that can be both creepy and funny. Compared to where Black Dice has been with the last few records, Copeland seems to be in a comparatively maximalist state of mind, never finding any virtual audio tape that he didn't want to saturate with noise. He's also making music that seems to me a touch more pop and easier to latch onto on the first spin. "Alien in a Garbage Dump" begins with huge amounts of clatter and a sampled voice imploring "Just don't do it" in a never-ending loop that could be a cousin to the "Come out to show them" bit used in Steve Reich's "Come Out" all those years ago. It works through myriad small variations to the pulse of a bass hit, and then it comes out on the other side, squinting into the bright light of a for-real tune. Over "La Bamba"/"Like a Rolling Stone" guitar chords, a loose and melodic guitar solo brings things home. Ah, the wonders of contrast; you can find some pretty cool shit in a landfill.

  • bueno el de MoHa! tienes razón, pelukas. el mejor de los tres que les he escuchado. menos jazz y mucho más cañeros que de costumbre.

  • joder, mil gracias por lo de Comet gain!!!

    hay bastantes canciones que me faltan (no muchas, jeje) y me muero de ganas de escuchar las inéditas!

    el disco recopila los singles (algunas de sus mejores canciones no estan en los discos), y por lo que he visto en la lista de canciones, hay clásicos del grupo como "Jack Nance Hair", "you can hide your love forever" o "Orwell liberty dance".

    en general estas cosas hacen que los fetichistas mas tontos (aqui me incluyo, claro) saquemos con orgullo nuestros singles gritando. "ya os lo decia! los tengo!", y nos quejemos en silencio por no ser nunca más los únicos poseedores de tamañas joyas.

    Pero también es perfecto que esas canciones no se queden en los cajones de unos pocos. Este disco contiene auténticas maravillas. Ojo cuidado

  • La cara A del nuevo single, "Love without lies" es un pelotazo que pa qué. Los oyentes de Buscant Jeff Mangum ya lo saben.
