    > Letur-Lefr is a forthcoming **5-song EP** by John Frusciante, scheduled for release on July 4th, 2012 in Japan, and for international release on July 17th, 2012 on Record Collection. It will be released in multiple formats including 32-bit digital formats and cassette. Recorded in 2010, it features Frusciante singing, playing all the instruments and engineering, as well as **a few friends on vocals** (_Nicole Turley, RZA, Leggezin Fin, Masia One, Kinetic 9, Rugged Monk_) mostly **MC’ing**.
    > Frusciante said of this album and its follow-up PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone "I consider my music to be **Progressive Synth Pop**, which says nothing about what it sounds like, but does describe my basic approach. I combine aspects of many styles of music and create my own musical forms by way of electronic instruments. The **tracks on Letur-Lefr are from 2010** and PBX was made in 2011\. Letur is a compilation, a selected portion of music I made that year while PBX was conceived as an album, the songs having been recorded in succession. The records are very different from each other."

    > Just lovely, haunting, too, and thought provoking like an itch that wakes one in the night, suddenly aware of some sore spot stirred up that now must be attended. The latest work from this 12-year-and-counting collaboration between bassist-composer **Juan Alderete** (_The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet, Racer X, The Scream_) and sublime singer-composer **Lisa Papineau** (_Air, M83, ME & LP, The Rentals_) cements their place as one of the coolest, adamantly modern duos of past few decades – think a much less depressive **Suicide**, a grittier **Yaz**, or early **Eurythmics** with less constrictions and you’re part way there – with Before Gardens After Gardens (released February 7). This is the kind of soundtrack one would want in their ear buds walking through the grimy streets of Blade Runner looking for love beneath the blimp billboards offering exciting lives in the off-world colonies. Okay, it’s maybe not that futuristic, but Big Sir does reach into our collective metal chest and squeeze a few fresh beats from our buried ticker, a gently shocking touch for infidels awash in wanton pride, raising heads from the ground, encouragement to be brave even as we’re falling down. There’s some beautiful beat science here, and Papineau’s willingness to use her voice like an instrument and not just a lyric delivery system keeps the colors splashing. Tying it all together is Alderete’s extraordinary bass work, a conversational, very alive presence snaking into every crevice, a thing of feel and instinct that could steal the show if he were less careful or deft. **Taken together with** well-chosen, musically appropriate guest turns from bassist **Joanthan Hischke** (_Broken Bells_), violist **Heather Lockie** (_Mike Watt, Listing Ship_), drummer **Deantoni Parks** & **Cedric Bixler Zavala** (_The Mars Volta_), **Money Mark**, **David Sims** (_Jesus Lizard_) **Matthew Embree** (_RX Bandits_) and others, Gardens is a testament to longing and dreaming out loud, yearning given melody and rhythm for modern times and beyond. (DC)
    >
    > The album was created after Alderete and collaborator Lisa Papineau were both diagnosed with serious illnesses: Alderete with polychythemia vera, and Papineau with Multiple Sclerosis. Three weeks before the album was released, Papineau was also diagnosed with cancer.

    > The wait is over!
    > Baroness have reemerged after 3 years of touring, writing and recording!!!!
    > Baroness' Yellow & Green finds a band that has developed into more than just giants of the **metal underground**, they are now fully formed **hard rock titans**. Fans of the band have come to expect nothing less than constant evolution from Baroness and that is precisely what the band has delivered, but in ways noone could have anticipated: the hooks are immediately seared into your brain, riffs that take just one listen to fully lodge themselves in your consciousness and vocals that are sung both heavily and beautifully. Some songs are more delicate than Baroness ever hinted to before while others are straight up arena rockers—yet all along Yellow & Green is unmistakably the Baroness that the world has come to love and look to for Record Of The Year quality rock and roll. It’s not hard to imagine any one of the **18 songs** that fill out the Yellow & Green **2CD/2LP** being rock radio anthems, and deservedly so. At no risk of hyperbole Baroness’ ‘Yellow & Green’ is on a very short list as one of the new millennium’s best rock records.
    >
    > Available also in limited edition one time deluxe pressings of 2CD and 2LP sets with expanded artwork. The deluxe 2CD and 2LP sets will each be housed in a heavy duty 28+ page perfect-bound hard covered book set, of course featuring the art of frontman John Baizley.
