    Según Alex Ross:
    "If you think that rock music is doomed through all eternity to bang out a few basic chord progressions on guitars and drums, you should stay the hell away from the Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, the reigning postpunk philosophers of San Francisco and environs. TFUL owes debts to the moody Germanic textures of Can and Faust, the art-rock delirium of the Residents, and a fat guy in Los Angeles named Link Hamilton who lent them a potato once in '62."

    yo me tire desde un escenario por primera vez en uno de sus conciertos pero ha llovido muchisimo desde entonces

    nunca los ví. vivía en una pequeña ciudad en león y no tenía edad para desplazarme por conciertos. en la línea, de los que me quedé con ganas fueron a millencolin, una vez ya en barcelona. vinieron por un festival eastpack o algo así, entonces ya no escuchaba hardcore pero hubiera sido memorable.

    joder, otros que tal bailan…el cantante, Nikola Sarcevic, tiene un par de discos en solitario

    Yo también fui fan de esas bandas, nunca olvidaré el mítico concierto de Lagwagon en uno de los primeros Festimad, cayendo granizo del tamaño de canicas y allí no se movía ni dios. Mas tarde volvi a verles en una gira, pero ya no fue lo mismo.

    Los que eran muy grandes eran Undeclinable Ambuscade y que gran nombre. Recuerdo una gira de esas de Cap Cap (ahora con la gira de waits, que fuerte) con varios grupos del estilo y el cantante Jasper trincando whisky con nosotros a mansalba, totalmente afónico, justo antes del concierto, con un pedal cromado. Hay que decir, en honor a su profesionalidad, que rechazó un tirascaz que le propusimos y luego el concierto fue muy grande.

    Me habría gustado aguantarme, pero no puedo. Ya lo comenté aquí alguna vez, mis 90 adolescentes fueron para el hardcore melódico californiano, epitaph, fat wreck chords, burning heart y demás, qué le voy a hacer. Me gustaron Lagwagon, Millencolin o Undeclinable. Pero mis favoritos (aparte de los más "míticos": Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise…) eran el tandem Pulley-Ten Foot Pole-Strung Out.
    En cualquier caso, en aquella época dorada conocí grupos que todavía disfruto a muerte a día de hoy como Descendents, All, etc. y por supuesto Black Flag, Minor Threat y otros fuera de lugar aquí porque son 80'teros...

    Pioneros del noise y post-punk noventero en Providence, la banda de Juan McLean despliega sus influencias sobre muchísimos grupos que vendrían por detrás. Sacaron 5 discos en Sub Pop, aquí os dejo cuatro, para mi el mejor es el Severe Exposure:

    Esto vino después de la inevitable iniciación Grunge claro. Nirvana y Mudhoney sobre todo, me hacían sentirme orgulloso de lucir una antiestética melena.
    Yo, como muchos jovenzuelos de la época, gracias al señor Kurt Cobain conocí montones de grupos interesantes y a pesar de la dificultad para conseguir nuevos discos, por fin tenía la oportunidad de elegir.

    Pues cronológicamente me parece un buen recorrido, los dos primeros a mi me gustan mucho, luego puede que decaigan un poco, pero temazos tienen para aburrir.
    Ahora con la nueva reunión no se como estará la cosa, a ver si se puede rellenar la cuota revival del Primavera con ellos

    se me da mal esto de etiquetar, voy a intentar escribir algo para que te hagas una idea:
    Un rocking hardcore, algo así como entre post hardcore (fugazi/aina/etc) más rokero y haciendo melodías con gritos (como cuando gritan q and not u, de hecho el no kill no bep bep también se parece un poco, en alguna cancion...). Muchos ritmos cortados, canciones rápidas de las que no pedes estarte quieto...

    por ahí van los tiros...

    Botch "We Are The Romans" (Hydrahead, 1999)

    We Are the Romans is a solid display of new-school metallic hardcore (or metalcore) from a band that's not afraid to experiment. In other words, there are plenty of heavy guitars and angry, raw-throated vocals, but these more standard elements are offset by jagged math rock rhythms, a keen sense of dynamics, and some unusual-for-the-genre production techniques. For example, "Transitions From Persona to Object" uses an almost electronic drum sound in one spot, the subdued "Swimming the Channel vs. Driving the Channel" features a close-up guitar tone that differs sharply from the rest of the album, and "Man the Ramparts" includes a lengthy, reverb-drenched choir/chant interlude. In terms of songwriting, Botch doesn't strive for the dizzying complexity of Dillinger Escape Plan (with whom they've toured) or even Coalesce, whom they otherwise more closely resemble. However, their odd-time grooves and jagged, interweaving guitar lines are definitely a few steps beyond the ordinary hardcore-metal fare. As some of the song titles suggest, the lyrics tend toward the obscure side of the spectrum and are often merely vague (e.g., "People you never see the ones you'll never be/Working with their hands we've downsized again" from "Mondrian Was a Liar"). Like many other bands in the metalcore genre, Botch could stand to take themselves a tad less seriously, but We Are the Romans is still an impressive release that is generally stronger for its ambitions — lyrical and otherwise — despite the little bit of baggage they yield.

    disco mítico de David Pajo (Slint, Tortoise, Papa M, Zwan, Palace Brothers), que grabó justo después de abandonar a Tortoise. no tan experimental como Tortoise ni con la bajonera característica de Slint, pero aún y así un disco que desprende melancolía por los cuatro costados.
