NEW 3 DAY PORTISHEAD PASS RELEASED TOMORROW 10AM EDT
& SINGLE DAY PASSES ON SALE NOW via ATPFESTIVAL.com

As recently confirmed, All Tomorrow's Parties returns to the USA this September in the new location of Asbury Park, N.J. bringing an I'll Be Your Mirror event to the iconic Asbury Park waterfront. For the inaugural American I'll Be Your Mirror, Portishead will curate and headline their first East Coast shows since 1998 on the Saturday and Sunday! I’ll Be Your Mirror is a new series of artist curated music, film and art events. Acting as sister events to the ATP Festivals, which take place in holiday resorts, I'll Be Your Mirror retains the curatorial and multiple band and film concept, but will take place in cities worldwide.

The original Three Day Passes (now called the Jeff Mangum Three Day Pass) for the festival sold out in just 72 hours, with Single Day Passes for all three days available now. As Jeff Mangum is playing in the stunning but smaller Paramount Theatre on the Friday, only Jeff Mangum Three Day Pass holders get access to that performance.

However due to public demand, ATP are releasing a small amount of 'Portishead Three Day Passes' via www.atpfestival.com at 10am EDT tomorrow. These passes do not include access to the Jeff Mangum show, but do allow passholders to see everything else from Friday-Sunday as well as giving priority access with the day pass holders to BOTH Portishead shows on Saturday and Sunday. Existing Day ticketholders or Jeff Mangum Three Day pass holders who wish to switch to a Portishead Three Day Pass should contact ATP via feedback@atpfestival.com before May 30th.

Today we can also confirm more of the amazing line-ups for Saturday and Sunday as curated by Portishead...

Saturday 1st October which is headlined by PORTISHEAD will now feature the legendary SWANS who returned recently to release one of the best albums of 2010. Still one of the most intense live acts on the planet, they will no doubt be a fantastic addition to the festival. In 2009 the Flaming Lips curated ATP New York and invited ONEIDA to create a special performance for the event. Oneida mounted a special all-day installation in which the impetus, spirit and community of the Ocropolis, their multidisciplinary studio/performance space, was bought to the festival grounds for a full day of improvisation, collaboration, and recording, open to all festival attendees. Numerous musicians and performers participated in this 12-hour nonstop event, including members of Boredoms, Flaming Lips, Akron/Family, and more. At the invitation of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Oneida's second Ocropolis event took place in the UK in December, where members of Godspeed, Deerhoof, The Dead C, Hallogallo, White Hills and others joined them. Now for ATP I'll Be Your Mirror in Asbury Park this September, Portishead have chosen ONEIDA PRESENTS THE OCROPOLIS III which will take place at the Asbury Lanes Bowling Alley - the band will perform continuously throughout the day, sometimes with guests from the rich array of musicians also performing in the festival, sometimes alone and mostly improvised. Finally we are pleased to announce that Stones Throw Records artist PEANUT BUTTER WOLF to DJ on the Saturday.

They join the previously announced line-up for Saturday including the reformed ULTRAMAGNETIC MC'S, THE HORRORS, reformed post-punk luminaries THE POP GROUP, Simeon of Silver Apples and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster/Harmonia as SILVER QLUSTER, BEAK> (feat Geoff Barrow of Portishead) and FOOT VILLAGE with more to be confirmed.

On Sunday 2nd October which is also headlined by PORTISHEAD we are very pleased to present the stunning BATTLES who return this year with a fantastic new album, DEERHOOF who have just released one of their best albums in 'Deerhoof Vs Evil', and finally MANOREXIA featuring Jim Thirwell (Foetus).

They join the previously announced line-up for Sunday which includes MOGWAI, Canada's stunning THEE SILVER MT. ZION MEMORIAL ORCHESTRA, EARTH, PEOPLE OF THE NORTH, ANIKA and DD/MM/YYYY with more to be confirmed.

  • Que dice Barry que el de Animal collective es el ultimo ATP en mayo por una buena temporada.

We can now announce the stage times for ATP curated by Animal Collective, as well as the Cinema times, DJ times and times for some of the extra activities.

One important thing to announce is that this will be the last ATP UK spring festival weekend for the foreseeable future. From now on we will host just two ATP festival weekends at Minehead in December (in addition to our I'll Be Your Mirror city-based events like our Portishead event in London this July). So if you haven't got tickets for the Animal Collective weekend and don't want to miss out on the last May ATP, tickets are still available. Here are some more details of the event plus those times…

For the classic ATP Bingo hosted by Lord Sinclair, we would like YOU to help by bringing a favourite book to donate. Your book with then be passed on to another interested reader as a prize in the Bingo. Please bring a book that you have enjoyed and would recommend to friends. If we have books left over they will be passed on as prizes in the Pop Quiz. You can donate books at the start of the Bingo.

Wet Sounds takes place in the pool 12:00 - 14:00 on Saturday and 11:00 - 13:00 on Sunday. You don't have to be there for the whole session; you can jump in and out as you please.

The "A History Of Sound Art" installation takes place in the Cinema on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday and Sunday between the morning and afternoon sessions.

We can confirm a few more films for the cinema - Phase IV, The Innocents and The Wages Of Fear - we should also correct our previous announcement which had listed Kurosawa's High And Low - in fact we will be screening Nobuo Nakagawa's Jigoku. For more info on all the films including trailers CLICK HERE. The cinema exists on a first come, first served basis. If you really want to see a film, you may have to get there early. There is limited seating and we do not guarantee entry into any session. Animal Collective's ODDSAC film will play twice - once just before their Saturday headline slot so make sure to check it out!

Make sure to keep checking back on our website as we will soon put up downloadable timecards for you to put on your phones/ipods...

  • Interesante 1ª parte de una entrevista a Barry Hogan

    http://thefourohfive.com/articles/6252

You announced last week that the forthcoming Animal Collective curated ATP festival would be the last Spring ATP festival for the foreseeable future. Could you explain the decision behind this?

Yes we seem to have caused a big reaction when we announced this and emotions seem to range from being genuinely upset to also very angry. The decision was not made lightly - we have been wrestling with it for at least 12 months. It was not something we decided on Weds morning and announced that same afternoon. A lot of thought went into it, regardless of what people think. Unfortunately the numbers in May have diminished over the past 3 years.

We thought if we did just one event in May it would work but that didn't seem to help much either. I think folks now have too much choice and also in spring it's high season at the holiday resort so the rates are much higher than they are in December. I do realise the weather is bound to be nicer in May but it's not like the venue is outdoors.

Some suggested we should do one in December and one in May but it's just not cost effective in May any longer unless we raised the ticket price by £25 which I doubt anyone would want to pay. I think ATP has been very fortunate to have lasted so long and in order for us to keep it going we are looking to staging the December line ups for the foreseeable future. We can probably re-introduce the Spring at some point but for now, rather than to keep losing money we are going to make sure we survive the congested festival climate and keep the standard maintained for the next few years

  • respecto al ATP de Portishead, tiene buena pinta lo de Silver Qluster (Simeon -Silver Apples- + Roedelius -Cluster-). A ver si en la última tanda de confirmaciones del Sònar…

a qué juegan Foot Village, People of the North, y Chavez?

  • al ATP Compartido Battles, Caribou y Les Savy Fav:

Underground Resistance, Four Tet and more added to ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas

‘Mad’ Mike Banks’ Detroit techno militia – currently comprised of members DJ 3000, DJ Dex, The Unknown Soldier, DJ Skurge, Suburban Knight an Buzz Goree, The Vision and of course Banks himself – will present their Interstellar Fugitives show at the festival, which takes place at Butlin’s holiday centre in Minehead, UK, on the weekend of December 9-11.

The other major dance-oriented additions are Four Tet, who will perform live, and Theo Parrish, who will play a special 4-hour DJ set.

Battles picked UR to play the festival, while Four Tet and Parrish, plus Toro y Moi and Orchestra of Spheres, were picked by Caribou. Les Savy Fav meanwhile have just added Wild Flag (featuring members of Sleater-Kinney), Surfer Blood, Oxes and Total Control.

The above artists join the previously announced likes of Holy Fuck, No Age, Marnie Stern, Flying Lotus, Gary Numan, Washed Out, Walls, Junior Boys, Omar Souleyman and Factory Floor. Curators Battles, Les Savy Fav and Caribou will also perform.

  • Y los Boredoms vienen con nuevo show

    @1qepw2t1:

In 2011 the Boredoms will focus on recording a new album. Their performances will be very rare and entirely new. Eye will play a sensor from the center of the drummers, less a conductor and more the nexus of an energy orb. Music and performance are intertwined and for the boredoms it is a living and breathing whole. A being, greater than the some of it's parts, and ever evolving. Join the experience and be part of the evolution. It will change how you listen to and how you see music and musical performance.
